    Mallet and Mitchell…TV analysts
    Ludeke…not coaching atm
    Smal…DoR

You’ve just made a very short list (afa potential coaches go) even shorter.

Mallet and Mitchell make a lot of stress free money now.
    They won’t give it up

Ludeke would probably take it, but who wants him?
He’s Fiji’s forward coach for the WC

Smal won’t leave now, if he does he’ll hurt your union as much as HM did ours by leaving and taking the whole coaching team with him

If they can convince him to take it Brendan Venter would be the best man for the job

Ackermann could work as well with the right assistants and a mentor

    He he, why not indeed.

Just casually drop a comment along the lines of ..”Heyneke is n kak Bok afrigter” and sit back and watch the running of the Bulls 😆

  • 545

@ Victoriabok: Ja, I follow that logic. B Venter would be my first choice by a country mile. Ackers is a potjie in the making. Smells good. Has potential. Give a few years to mature in the lion pot and then serve up.

With JW mentoring them from afar over his walkie talkie while watching with his farlooker (binoculars).

I don’t think JW is drinking and chasing hoes anymore
Maybe it would influence his coaching?

Look at Tiger, he was number one in the world and couldn’t lose, while having threesomes and sinking putts in the 19th, 20th and 21st holes of hookers afterwards

Then he stopped and now he’s ranked 187 😛

@ nortie: ja 😆 right on.

If the Sharks perform bad, it’s all Gold. If they do well, it’s all because of his (Venter’s) great consultancy work.

Very little glory for Venter then? 😛

    Gold has been bad everywhere

Yes… that’s it. Why have nobody suggested that before. Their record speaks for themselves.

    -series win against the Lions.
-3 wins in a row against the AB.
    -3N win

We could keep the core of the team together

Victor could keep on playing till the next World Cup, all the young laaities are going to France anyway and the rest seem to be injured all the time 😛

Pienaar could also last till the next WC 😆

Jannie, Bissie and Habs could also last if we only use them for the EOYT 😈

@ Victoriabok: bietjie seks kan somtyds n wonnelike medesjyn wees. Somtyds wek dit vir n tier nie so lekker nie.

  • 553

@ MacroPolo: for good reason one supposes.

  • 554

@ Victoriabok: Jis. didn’t see that one coming.

Vir ou Tiger was dit net die regte medisyne

Hoe meer en hoe rower die girls, hoe beter was hy met die stok en balle (op en van die baan)

    539 @ MacroPolo:
But I could say the same thing about you Macro if we substitue WP with Blue Bulls.

    @ Victoriabok:
I’m not so keen on Venter until and unless he is willing to coach a CC/SR team full time with all the pressure that goes with it to prove that he has what it takes to be an international coach.

Ackerman is still too green as a head coach at provincial level and has not won anything yet. So, until he gains more experience and start to win some trophies, he shouldn’t be in consideration. Maybe as an assistant to learn more. Like Mallet did with PdV and HM.

  • 557

    @ Victoriabok:
Yes, strangely enough he is struggling to put(t) it in the hole. Lack of practice perhaps? 😆

  • 558

@ Nama: Yes. Maybe its a case of ‘brown eye fever’? aka Mr Brown’s cousin.

  • 559

@ Victoriabok: stok en balle? Mnr 😎

AUSTRALIAN Eddie Jones will be unveiled as the new Stormers coach next week.

Jones is set to become the highest-paid rugby coach in South Africa. His two-year contract is believed to be worth about R5 million a year.

The Cape Times has learnt that the former Wallabies coach will replace Allister Coetzee, who has moved on to coach Kobelco Steelers in Japan after guiding the Stormers to the Super Rugby playoffs in June.

Backline coach Robbie Fleck will continue in his role, while new Western Province head coach John Dobson is likely to serve as another assistant. Forwards coach Matt Proudfoot has joined Coetzee in Japan.

It seems that Jones will continue in his role as coach of the Japanese national team. This, though, could be an issue, as it probably would have been ideal for the next Stormers coach to be a lot more hands-on during the times when Super Rugby is not played.

Jones has never coached in South Africa before and while he has experience of working with the Springboks as a consultant in 2007, he will need to adapt to the demands of coaching in the Cape, because of the union’s diverse fan base and media scrutiny. However, there is no denying his credentials as a world-class coach and as a man who thinks outside the proverbial box as a tactician.

Earlier this year WP director of rugby Gert Smal said he wanted a coach with Super Rugby and/or international experience. Jones has both and also fits the profile of a man who believes in an exciting brand of rugby – also one of Smal’s requirements.

Jones is no stranger to Super Rugby. He guided the Brumbies to the title in 2001. He was also in charge of the Australian national team at the 2003 World Cup on home soil.

No Stormers coach has won the coveted Super Rugby title.

    @ BrumbiesBoy:
    How is that rugby related?

  • 564

    @ Nama:
How is Tiger Woods rugby related?

  • 565

    @ nortie:
If true, it would be good news for us.

A 3 year contract would’ve been much better for Dobson to learn more. Two seasons is equal to about 30 SR games + friendlies whereas 3 seasons mean he would’ve served for well over 50 games as apprentice under Jones before taking over as head coach.

Be that as it may, I hope the speculation has some substance.

  • 566

    @ BrumbiesBoy:
Tiger’s name was used to draw a comparison with JW and some tongue in cheek comments were made about him.

Now, how is that link rugby related?

  • 567

@ nortie: I can buy that one. Eddie would be very good for us indeed. South Africa simply does not grow quality coaches on trees. Unlike our antipodean friends over the water. We’ve produced a few. Far too few.

  • 568

    562 @ nortie:
WOW that is big news for you guys.

  • 569

    @ Nama:
As my post started…”Talking about sticking it in the hole…”

The subject had been brought up and that incident came to mind.

If you have a problem with that I’m sorry for you.

  • 570

    @ Nama:
    @ Tassies:
Agree, would be a huge coup.

Slightly concerned that if the report is true, that he will share the duties with his international duties.

Maar, n halwe eier is beter as n lee dop
