Race has become another sore point for the South African Rugby Union (SARU) when transformation in rugby was discussed in Parliament on Tuesday, according to reports.

Some MPs complained about the “white faces” in SARU’s delegation that presented to the portfolio committee on sport and recreation.

EFF MP Pebane Moteka asked: “If you do not even your leadership can transform, how are you transforming the sport?”

Solly Malatsi from the DA then tweeted that Saru’s presentation reminded him of “the unbearable whiteness of the state of South African rugby “.

SARU president Oregan Hoskins, who led the delegation, asked MPs to confirm that he was not white.

“Honourable members, look at us and say we are all white men.

“As someone who grew up under apartheid, I know it is politically correct to refer to myself as black. Sometimes I just do not understand,” he said and shook his head.

He said if they were to play political games about who is black and who is not, it leaves them in a very different minefield.

“But I forgive people who think I’m white.”

SARU’s delegation was made up of 4 black and 4 white members.

“In SARU we try to do the right thing.

“I have to look at a white player and say we have to replace you with a black player because of transformation. It’s part of the job, but we will try to maintain a balance between competitiveness and transformation.”

Hoskins added that transformation would take time.

He said they did not want to put a black person on the team because of the colour of his skin.

“We want to develop black players in order to compete on the same level as white players.”

ANC MP and committee chair, Beauty Dlulane, said more needed to be done for transformation in rugby, especially in rural areas.

    @ MacroBull:
What is an underhanded comment? And what other thread did I make it on?

In my opinion, which according to you is wrong irrespective of what it is, Pocock standing up for his beliefs, and this guy from the EFF standing up for his beliefs, is one and the same.

Both are willing to put the self out there for their cause.

So, if I understand your viewpoint correctly, and please do explain where I’m wrong, those who didn’t agree with Pocock as you did, were wrong, in your respected viewpoint.

Please refer to post 22 😆

    27 @ MacroBull:
“You compare it to ANYONE standing up for their beliefs, including racists.”

In your opinion they are racists, in their opinion anyone standing against transformation and quotas are also racists.

Who’s opinion is right and who’s opinion is wrong?

I stood up for you the other day regarding just this… That we are entitled to our own opinions, because thats what it is especially when we cant base it on facts.

The problem i have is that you regularly tend to spill over into other threads and make a gesture to a debate elsewhere with a swinging nortie. You hold a grudge worse than a woman.

You came in here and said

“One can’t cheer the one and vilify the other”

So you putting these two distant i
Opinions on the same pedastal… Thats just insane. I wont say your wrong… But what logic are you using when you think of things like that? 😆

    JY is nie reg nie.

As I mentioned in post 20, I have been made aware of what certain bloggers feel about me, and I have no problem with that, to each his own.

I won’t, start saying ja en amen just to be with the “in crowd”

So I fully expect that every comment I make will be regarded as garbage and look forward to see it being taken apart.

Presies, whatever, want hoe op aarde kan julle verkeerd wees en ek reg wees…..wat n travesty.
Dit kan mos nooit wees nie

You brought it up and i replied… I still didnt say your opinion is wrong.

We are surely not going to agree about divisive LGBT, political, transformation or even sporting issues – best we can do is show some tolerance for other views.

But surely most of us (whatever our convictions and inclinations) can find common ground when it comes to the luscious, delectable artichoke?

    Artisjok

    Laatnag vleg ’n skielike ritseling

    My stadig los

Uit swaar arms van my geliefde,

    Donker suster van my dood.

Dou sak heeltemal te vroeg vanjaar

Op my grasperk en plante neer.

Takke en blare ril nog waarskuwend

As ek deur die wind na my groentetuin beur.

My flitslig skok die grootste plant

Wat haar lang, silwergrys blare vou,

    Ritselend toe, dig

Om die geheime, pers, glinsterende vrug.

    Raak my aan, asseblief,

Raak my nie nou al aan nie.

    Uit hierdie bitter grond gebore

Tussen windhande wat my wil klief.

Ek vou die stingels versigtig weg,

Pluk ‘n paar blare en proe,

    Huiwerig om my tong,

Donkergroen, suursoet parfuum van die nag.

Net een maal het ek jou so sien lê

    Ná ‘n laatnagmaal van artisjok.

Jou hande was lig oor jou borste gevou,

    Jou bene terughoudend gekruis.

Laag vir laag het ek jou afgeskil

    Met ‘n versigtige, moedelose tong,

Tot by die diep, geheime, bitter vrug

Wat weer terugtrek tussen jou dye.

Deur strelende hande van jou geliefde,

Jou lokkende suster van die slaap

Kon ek hoor: raak my aan, asseblief,

    Raak my nooit meer aan nie;

te lig om ’n groen hart finaal te klief.

Australia 328 after the 50 with Finch 81 (116), Smith 105 (93) and Mitchell Johnson with a blistering 27 not out (9) doing the most damage. Pitch seems a bit 2 paced so India might struggle to get it. Could still turn into a thriller though.
