News from the UK is that Tendai “Beast” Mtawarira is returning home due to his recurring heart problem.

After consultation with a cardiologist, it has been decided that it is in the best interests of Beast to return home and undergo more tests and therapy for his heart palpitations. He will undergo a minor operation upon his return to hopefully correct the issue.

Frans Malherbe will join the pringboks as replacement prop on tour.

Rugby-Talk wishes Tendai “Beast” Mtawarira all the best and a speedy recovery.

    @ Loosehead:
What did you expect with the Forwards being totally dominated?? come now mate, a game of rugby is won upfront, as we clearly saw when the forwards woke up in the 2nd half???

Should not mess too much with the team this week, but there should be some changes. This would be my team.

    15. Taute
    14. JPP
    13. De Jong
    12. JdV
    11. Mvovo
    10. Lambie
    9. Ruan (would like Hougie to be playing at scrummie again though and see how he goes with the new 5 sec rule), but that won’t happen this week.

    8. Vermeulen
    7. Coetzee
    6. Flo
    5. Kruger (not totally convinced by Kruger, but think we must keep most of the starting team from last week)
    4. Eben
    3. Cilliers (as S_F says, Jannie needs a rest)
    2. Strauss (Was my mom last week, had a superb game)
    1. Heinke (Steenkamp if he is over his injury)

    16. Brits
    17. Jannie
    18. Heinke if Steenkamp can start
    19. Flip
    20. Alberts
    21. Hougaard
    22. Jantjies
    23. Rhule

    26: sien die lostrio’s van #18 en 28

  • 34

31 @ Sharks_forever:the problem is that Vermeulen, Alberts and Flo are not fast, nothing to do with the forwards being dominated. A quicker flanker like Coetzee is needed.

  • 35

    32 @ Puma:
Change 23 to Zane. So Rhule drops out he has to go improve his kicking….LOL 🙂 Meyer said it not me… 😛

  • 36

    29 @ Sharks_forever:
Expect Heyneke to change a maximum of 3 players in the squad of 22… he likes continuity in selection.

The 3 I would like to see get in is De Jongh, Rhule & Jantjies… PLUS a tweak at Loosehead, bringing Shrek Steenkamp in on the bench(Fark, Gurthro looks just like Shrek’s uglier brother) and of course Arno Botha as replacement loosie.

  • 37

    34 @ Loosehead:
Agree totally. Our loose trio were good but damn they were just far too slow. Coetzee added that extra pace when he came on. Also tackles like a demon.

  • 38

Coetzee was goed daardie laaste klompie minute, kan ook die volgende lostrio kies

    Botha
    Coetzee
    Louw

    37 @ Puma:Dont tell Sharky!

  • 40

    25: tekort aan duiksakke ?

  • 41

Frans Malherbe is nogal baie soos ou Loskoppie… hang ook maar net rond, doen fokkol… en bly innie Kaap!

    Hahahaha

  • 42

    39 @ Loosehead:
Sharky will agree with Coetzee at 7.

With Alberts and Vermeulen together our loose trio is just way too slow. Would have been different if we still have Juan Smith at 7. For now I would like to see Coetzee start, he adds the pace we need there. Doubt Meyer will dabble there though, then you never know with Meyer he could who knows.

  • 44

    @ Puma:
😆 Pooms i would be happy with No Sharks players there at all as per the team i posted further up 😉

  • 45

During Halftime and after the game one could see how Victor Matfield is still influenced by the Bulls mindset… not that I disagree with what he said.

His words, amongst others (and that comes straight from the Bulls coaching mantra)… play in the right areas and use your chances from there.

Which is basically what the Springboks did in the 2nd half….

    @ Puma:
What worries me is everyone blamming Lambie and Alberts,

I wonder how manay took the time to actually watch the match??? and i dont mean sitting there stressing and biting nails, calmly afterwards

Do yourself a favour and go watch again, I wont tell you about the change i saw in Lambie out of hand kicking, comee back and tell me what you notice, and it aint good

  • 48

    @ Puma:
Oh to see the diiference go watch for example the final again and watch Lambie kicking,

dare i say it the Bok kicking coach is doing his bit to fuck up another youngster?? Morne was a very good kicker?? how come not so much any more?????

  • 49

    46 @ Loosehead:
I don’t think Frans drinks as much as you do though…. hehehe

  • 50

Puma one thing is very clear, the coaching staff are busy coaching any quality some of these players have out of them

I’ll give you an example of some thing i learnt a long long time ago,

I was a scratch golferr for around 20 years, and i used to give golf lessons, In this time I learnt that when teaching someone to Hold a club, Swing a club etc, I had to teach them the basics, you cannot teach people to hit the club exactly as you would, Bodies fiffer, flexibillity differs etc etc etc.

I have a feeling our Bok kicking coach is teaching people to kick as he would, huge mistake, a few things concerned me when Lambie was kicking this past weekend, and trust me his kicking style is not the same as it was in the final,

Mate what people dont always understand is that if you were a good player?? it does not assure you of being a good coach, pleaying is one thing, teaching another.

  • 51

    Fiffer = differ

    47 & 48 @ Sharks_forever:
Jeeez, the fact that Lambie does not shine can’t possibly be his own doing can it… not according to you okes anyway.

Puma and Yourself made out as if Lambie was going to walk on water, whilst making wine out of the Irish mist hanging about… whilst calmly winning the game for the Bokke…

Well, he did not walk on water, he did not make wine… and he was average at best, on Saturday.

He was no revelation, no game breaker, no X-Factor genius… he was just an OK’ish flyhalf in a Test match… no more!

  • 53

    @ grootblousmile:
Not gonna bother even answering that Rudi

    47 @ Sharks_forever:
I think Alberts was great, it is just that we can’t have Alberts and Vermeulen start together they too slow. I actually think Meyer has missed a trick here by not trying Coetzee at 8. Fast and does everything else Vermeulen does. But the both of them together are good just slow as Vermeulen is also slow.

I know everyone is blaming Lambie, but really it is the coaching he is getting at the Boks. Same happened to Goosen and Elton none were as good as they were at their franchise. None of those two were great either. I would actually rather Meyer left Lambie out and just give the fh position to Morne. He has messed just about all the fhs there with the kicking and none play that game plan well really, NOT Goosen, Elton or Lambie. They all 3 are play makers and very good at it. Also he has said Goosen is his fh, so not sure what the others have to prove really. It causes pressure to try and impress in one game. I actually can’t wait for Meyer to be gone actually. He has not been good for the Boks to be honest. Just look at the French playing this weekend? I only watched that game this morning, they are light years away from us. Even the Scots are playing some good rugby. We are stuck in 2007 with Meyer also his assistant coaches are most definitely not up to much either. Rather looking forward to Super Rugby to be honest. Where we will see some good rugby played by these very same players.

I agree. He was ok, nothing special.

  • 56

    @ grootblousmile:
I would like to see Jantjies get a chance, so I’d either move Lambie to fullback, or move Taute to fb, and have Lambie on the bench – coming on to play most of the second half. I’m sure we differ on this – but I just don’t like Zane.

A few years ago if a blogger on this site criticized the Bulls or a Bulls player the Bulls supporters would kick the crap out of him / her. I know, I was often on the receiving end.
It now seems as if the same is true for [some] of the Sharks supporters. At least they are showing some passion, unlike before the CC final when they were ever so polite to the WP chaps.

    53 @ Sharks_forever:
How would YOU make the Springbok backline less sterile?

By the way, THAT is an honest down to earth question, no motives, no hidden intent… just straight forward.

    @ grootblousmile:
Ah – so we almost on the same page. If you could, would you drop JdV?
