Meerkat in talks with Lyon

Springbok and Stormers scrumhalf Ricky Januarie is reportedly considering a move to French Top 14 Rugby club Lyon.

The Stormers scrumhalf has caught the eye of Lyon as they need internationals who are available to play Top14 Rugby during the Rugby World Cup.

Januarie’s deal therefore depends on him not making the Springboks Rugby World Cup squad.

Janurie was out of favour with the Stormers earlier in the season but has seen more game time lately due to injuries to key players ahead of him in the pecking order.

Januarie’s agent, Craig Livingstone, said that he was in negotiations with the French Club but would not give an indication of how far down the road the talks have gone.

“We are negotiating for Ricky with Lyon but that is as far as it has gone at the moment.”

“He has a contract until the end of the season and any deal would be after it concludes,” Livingstone said.

Fourie du Preez is expected to be the Springbok first choice scrum half at Rugby World Cup, with Francois Hougaard and Sarel Pretorius pushing for the second place in the squad.

    Ricky…good and faithful servant of SA rugby, a great career and what better way to end it than going to make a sackful of money…..and will probably end up with the prettiest French babe in the place.
