Gerhard van den Heever has been suspended for two weeks after his spear tackle this weekend, ruling him out of the semi-final.
The young Bulls flyer and the Bulls were dealt a massive blow, not so much for this weekend’s game, as Gerhard van den Heever would have been rested anyway, but the two week suspension means that the Bulls will be without his services for the semi-final in 2 weeks time.
The citing and suspension follows an illegal tackle on Crusaders replacement Tim Bateman.
Van den Heever was yellow-carded during the match for this tackle and result of the two hour hearing at Loftus is’nt good news for the Bulls.
It is now even more important that the players who stand in for the Bulls against the Stormers this weekend takes the step up and prove themself(ves) able replacements for the semi-final.
One can argue whichever way, appeal the decision and punishment metered out, but the tackle was beyond the horisontal and therefore illegal. A just case however can be made out that the punishment of two weeks is excessive, considering that he was already yellow-carded during the actual match.
A big blow for the Bulls…

If Shadow is suspended for two weeks then that Crusaders Player who spear tackled Danie R should have been cited and suspended for 1 week.
This is ironic, the first tackle that the boy makes in his whole career (effective tackle) and he gets cited and suspended…he may never tackle again.
After the tackle i thought he would be out for the rest of the tournament, so lucky he would still be available for the Bulls if they reach the finals.

That being said, ek sou verkies as ons nie hierdie dinge aan die noodlot oorlaat nie. Of die Bulls nou ‘n A of ‘n B span stuur, ons kan teen albei verloor as die attitude nie reg is nie, ons kan albei wen ook natuurlik.

In elke geval, die Bulle moet appeleer en die commissioner behoorlik omkoop om dit te verminder na een week.
