Bulls lock Victor Matfield has been found ‘not guilty’ on a foul play charge. He is free to play against the Waratahs on in a Super 14 Round Three match on Saturday.
Matfield appeared before a SANZAR judicial committee on Monday, after being cited for foul play following his team’s impressive 50-32 Super 14 win over the Brumbies in Pretoria at the weekend.
Matfield was cited under Law 10.4 (a) for striking Brumbies flank Rocky Elsom around the head area in the 16th minute of the match.
The Bulls lock was also cited under Law 10.4 (k) for charging into a ruck without binding onto another player.
He was cleared on both charges at the hearing at Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria.

12 – Hi Tripps, I hope we can, but we now on tour and it will be even harder. We play Saders with McCaw back then Tahs, Brumbies, Landers and Canes all on their own turf. Far too tough I think. Might pick up one win but most of all am hoping we don’t leak any bonus points. That will help the Bulls and Stormers. Think that is all we might be able to do. If we win some that would be even better. Against those team on their turf, not too sure.

31 – Super, I know. I felt worried in the first bit on Saturday but it all turned around. Now Bulls must come out of the starting blocks like a cracker. That would put Tahs on the back foot straight away.
Bulls will win I have no doubt. Tahs looked dismal against the Stormers.
