A Lions rugby player has allegedly bitten Francois Louw of Western Province in Saturday’s Curry Cup clash between the two teams in the Coketin. The Lions won the match 27-25.
Nobody had been cited by yesterday, but the South African Rugby Union’s legal manager, Christo Ferreira, confirmed an investigation was under way.
“The citing officer (Andy Prior) is waiting for additional footage,” said Ferreira.
Western Province coach Allister Coetzee was very unhappy with the incident.
“There are two bite marks on Francois’s forearm. It’s out of our control … it is clear on video,” said Coetzee.
“I can’t believe a player can stoop to that level,” he said.
The bitemark was shown to news24 at O R Tambo airport on Sunday.
Prior said there would “probably” be a citing but the broadcast footage is apparently unclear.
I think Jake’s refused to feed them until they produce.
So it is ok for Schalk to eye gouge, but not ok for a Lion to feed?

Ek sien in die Beeld dat daar n gevloekery was in die laaste game tussen die WP en die Bulle en dat die Bulle lekker moerig daaroor is. Saterdag gaan die ref sy hande volhe, hoop net Bakkies bly uit die fight uit , hy sal die ref se kaarte nie vryspring as enigiets gebeur nie.
