Kimberley. – Die Suid-Afrikaanse skeidsregtersvereniging sal vandag ’n klag by SA Rugby indien ná ’n voorval waarin mnr. Willie Roos, die skeidsregter in die naweek se Curriebeker-wedstryd tussen Griekwas en die Blou Bulle, met drank in die gesig gegooi is.
Dié voorval het plaasgevind net enkele weke ná voorvalle van geweld in rugbyklubwedstryde in Johannesburg en die Suid-Kaap en by ’n skolewedstryd in Roodepoort.
Mnr. André Watson, Suid-Afrika se skeidsregterbaas, het gister gesê daar sal ná die drankgooi-voorval in Kimberley dringend opgetree word omdat voorvalle soos dié nadelig is vir rugby en ’n negatiewe beeld uitstraal.
Die Blou Bulle het eergister se wedstryd in die doodsnikke met 25-24 gewen en Griekwas sy eerste Curriebeker-nederlaag van die seisoen toegedien.
’n Ontstoke toeskouer was glo ongelukkig oor die twee geel kaarte wat Roos in die laaste vyf minute onderskeidelik aan Griekwas se Jonathan Mokuena (kaptein en agtsteman) en Rohan Kitshoff (flank) toegeken het.
Dié toeskouer het Roos ná die wedstryd vermoedelik met brandewyn en Coke in die gesig gegooi toe hy van die veld stap.
Die twee geel kaarte het die tuisspan, wat toe met 24-18 voorgeloop het, met net 13 spelers gelaat en die gang van die wedstryd geswaai toe die besoekers se plaasvervanger-losvoorspeler, Pedrie Wannenburg, die wendrie in dié tydperk gedruk het. Op televisie kon gehoor word hoe Roos die Griekwas-spelers verskeie kere waarsku voordat hy die geel kaarte uitgedeel het.
Die ontstoke ondersteuner wou ook op die veld storm, maar is betyds deur stadion-personeel in bedwang gebring.
Hy het daarna dadelik tussen die honderde toeskouers verdwyn.
Watson het gesê die klag word vandag by die regsdepartement van SA Rugby ingedien. “Verslae van die skeidsregter, assistent-skeidsregters en al die beamptes sal aangevra word. Die unie en die betrokke sekuriteitsmaatskappy sal ook oor die voorvalle verslae moet voorlê.
“Ons hoop om die aangeleentheid teen Donderdag afgehandel te hê.”
In Johannesburg moes ’n wedstryd tussen die rugbyklubs van Wanderers en Eldorains onlangs stopgesit word nadat van die spelers glo messe uitgepluk en hul teenstanders met die dood gedreig het.
Dit was nadat hul teenstanders glo rassistiese aanmerkings gemaak en hul kaptein bewusteloos geslaan het.
Die rugbyklub van Heidelberg in die Suid-Kaap is op sy beurt vir 15 jaar geskors nadat die klub daaraan skuldig bevind is dat sy ondersteuners verlede maand spelers van die Mosselbaai-rugbyklub aangeval het tydens ’n wedstryd tussen dié spanne.
In Roodepoort is ’n aanrandingklag teen die oud-Springbokflank Ian McDonald ingedien. Hy het glo ’n lynregter in ’n skolewedstryd met die vuiste getakel.

Once had lunch with an Indian fellow and one of them came out the bushes and strolled around amongst the tables like we did not exist, small one but old Vijay was not to keen on it. Ate his food with one eye on it the whole time, shuffled his chair a few times when it looked like it was heading our way…

Funny you mention that, I’ve just responded to Jan, Princess would also like to be involved and had a good suggestion(dont tell her I said that) to break what’s needed into chunks like kit etc to make it affordable for many to help.
