Naas Botha

A big fuss has erupted after SuperSport rugby analyst Ashwin Willemse calmly ranted and and walked off set, accusing Naas Botha and Nick Mallett of patronising behaviour… basically indicating that they were acting racially incorrectly and he was the victum.

This incident happened after the Emirates Lions vs Brumbies game, during discussion in the SuperSport 1 studio after the match…

The initial LIVE BROADCAST only showed Ashwin Willemse’s calm rant, accusations and him walking off the SuperSport 1 set, however video footage has surfaced, showing not only the initial LIVE reaction by Ashwin Willemse and him walking off set, but WHAT WENT BEFORE as well.

Here have a look at all of it…

Now, you don’t have to be a rocket scientist to see the Willemse rant is out of context, irresponsible and scandalous, to say the least!

World Rugby Hall Of FameTwenty-five greats of the game whose careers spanned 3 centuries have been inducted into the World Rugby Hall of Fame in a ceremony at Wembley on Sunday at 18:00 SA Time (17:00 BST, 16:00 GMT)

Players from 7 different countries and a wide array of backgrounds were honoured at a special presentation in the Spirit of Rugby lounge at Wembley Stadium before the eagerly awaited Rugby World Cup 2015 Pool C match between New Zealand and Argentina.

From the pioneering 19th century Welsh tactician Gwyn Nichols to Rugby World Cup winners in Australian centre Tim Horan and South African scrumhalf Joost van der Westhuizen, the latest induction list reads like a ‘who’s who’ of rugby.

18 Captains of their countries are included. Irishman Fergus Slattery and Mervyn Davies are 2 of the names that ‘The voice of rugby’ Bill McLaren, the only non-international to feature in the latest Round of inductions, once reeled off in his unforgettable BBC commentaries.

Twice-capped coaching guru Carwyn James is 1 of 7 Welshmen to be inducted, while South Africa have 5 representatives. England, Ireland and Scotland have 3 apiece and 2 each from France and Australia make up the 25.

Naas Botha

Naas Botha

Springbok legend and popular rugby pundit Naas Botha believes South Africa made an important evolutionary change in their game plan in their defeat to the All Blacks in Johannesburg last weekend.

Botha believes Springbok coach Heyneke Meyer needs to persist with the enterprising style adopted – something he believes is long overdue.

“What we saw on Saturday was totally different compared to what we’ve seen over the last couple of years but it should have happened 2 years ago,” Botha said in Midrand on Wednesday.

“I don’t think it is too late, I believe we should build on this now because what we saw over the weekend was quite impressive.

“Yes, we didn’t win and to be honest it is all about winning and they did surprise us with that last lineout.”

Botha was speaking at the launch of Creative Rugby which he co-wrote with Dr Kobus Neethling, a world leader in the field of creativity and whole-brain thinking.

The premise of the book is to promote whole-brain thinking, with modern players now on the same level in terms of fitness and skills.
