Tahs 5m penalty, they opt to scrum

    81 @ Bullscot:
The coaches are using that as excuse to “rest” players.
Not even all the guys being rested are contracted Boks.
Eben is being rested “as per agreement”, but he has only had 1 game.
Also the other Stormers like Demitri and Groom are being “rotated” as per agreement with the Bok coach.
Very confusing when players not contracted by the Boks are being “rested” as per agreement

  • 93

Tahs knock close to the tryline, defensive Landers scrum it is

  • 94

Can Landers #4 jump in from the wrong side of the maul like that (on his goal line) to prevent a try?

Not offsides like last week & a penalty try?

    Just asking.

  • 95

Damn, picked the Landers by 5, a Tahs 7 pointer would have gone down well with me

  • 96

    @ nortie:
I thought eben was rested because of injury

  • 97

India needing 54 runs from 39 balls.
    Still only 4 wickets down

  • 98

    Try Stephen Hoiles, Tahs

    96 @ MacroBull:
One would think, but I read a report earlier this week where AC was quoted as saying rested as per Bok agreement

  • 100

    Highlanders 26 / 19 Waratahs

  • 101

    @ nortie:
So the bok coach has an “agreement” so they rest Groom and Demetri and eben after one game, but the bok coach wont mind our rugby player of the year to play non stop? lol smoke screens all over the place

    83 @ grootblousmile:
Wel hy is ‘n stut wat in die skrums moet stoot, gaan hy nie moeg vir dit wees nie… Pondering

  • 103

    Nice result

  • 104

    Final Score: Highlanders 26 / 19 Waratahs

    101 @ MacroBull:
Stormers have the bye next week, so Dwayne is playing his 5th in a row today.
Not sure if the bye actually counts as a “rest as per agreement” though, it’s not as if one player is getting preference and being rested

    102 @ Bullscot:
Hy is nogal woellig in die los en vaste los… so ek voel eerder jammer vir sy vroutjie…. sy sal gerus moet word na die naweek!

    Delighted

  • 107

    @ nortie:
then why would AC be “forced” to rest Eben. that makes little sense.

  • 108

    107 @ MacroBull:
    Yep, exactly my initial point.
If he is injured again, say so, don’t sugarcoat it by saying he is being rested as per agreement

  • 109

India needs 39 runs off 30 balls.

They should take it with an over spare… maybe…

  • 110

    @ nortie:
There is a lot of mixed messages, good luck to the sharks who will have to rest, Reinach, Lambie, Mvovu, PSDT, Bissie and Marcel Coetzee all at once for the Chiefs game.

  • 111

    @ MacroBull:
It’s also the same at the Cheetahs, Naka was “resting Oupa as per agreement”, yet Oupa isn’t a contracted Bok.
Now Oupa is back because of an injury to his replacement

How many of them are actually contracted?
That’s the part I don’t quite understand, only a handful of players have contracts, and some of them are overseas as well

  • 113

Shall we mosey on over to the Reds / Brumbies thread?

Follow me, I’m right behind you!

yep smoke screening… that said, MAYBE we should have a rule that all players cant play more than 5 games in a row (excluding semi finals and finals). that will help combat coaches overplaying some players.

  • 115

    @ nortie:
well Demetri and Groom are certainly not contracted. if this “agreement” includes them then it could include just about everyone.

  • 116

Maybe there should be a rule that I also get rested every 4 games… flok that would be something, would’nt it!!

Then I would not suffer from fatigue and pick up a few injuries along the way!!

  • 117

    110 @ MacroBull:
Hi MacroBull, yip I raised the issue of player resting for good reason as it is one that I think has been relatively quiet now but will soon become a big talking point once teams have to start resting the players. A good idea in principle in World Cup year and my feeling from the blogs was that is was relatively well supported BUT once fans start seeing it in action with players sitting out important Super rugby games I think there will be a lot of unhappiness. It is a tough think too for the coaches to manage but something that has been happening in Scotland at Glasgow for a while (with our small playing pool it is essential) so perhaps our Super rugby coaches can try and contact Gregor Townsend to hear how he does it as he does a lot of rotating, this year more due to injuries but certainly in the past few seasons rotating without injuries. Just a thought…

  • 118

    @ grootblousmile:
well considering that you are not “working” you can consider this resting, your welcome 😀

  • 119
