    @ grootblousmile:
Server was oppie koffie…

Pollard was good again, how skew was that last feed, we left it too late, a lot of wasted chances Congrats England, Next year you will be a serious contender for the real WC

  • 186

Gebruik jou kanse, that is the name of the game !

  • 190

Ai tog… I am dejected, I did not even see the last few minutes!

  • 191

    Bad luck Saffas.
    Be proud of your Boys’.
They had a very good tournament and the future looks bright.

  • 192

pollard junior speler van die jaar

  • 193

    pollard will play vs scotland

Well played England, pity for our Bokkies.
Pietman, seems our fears after seeing how well the Irish played for a big part against the Baby Blacks was well founded, the way the English smashed the Irish sent alarm bells ringing this morning.

Midfield defense from the Bokkies not accurate enough today, and the forwards were matched by a very accomplished pack of English forwards.

Not a classic game by any measure, except for the drama of it being so close, too many errors from both sides, nerves must have been stretched out there

  • 196

    Bad luck umfanaBokke

    Congratulations Poms

England’s Howard Packman & Nick Tomkins stand out for England.

Those 2 made massive breaks for the England backline, they were bloody good!

  • 199

Our readership figures rocked during the game, went as high as 196 People Online simultaneously at times…

But that also had an effect on our Server Environment at the Web Hosts, as our Domain’s usage spiked in it’s moer and abused their Server with massive CPU usage.

What that caused in return, was that Rugby-Talk was restricted, due to these effects, seeing as we run on a Shared Server environment.

In fact, we are still in Restricted mode, till our use comes down substantially.

So, pity and apologies about the few Hostgator Pages which came up, and the load speeds, which was slow at times… and might still be a bit slow.

We will have to go to a Dedicated Server setup eventually, but that costs serious money per month… and we’ll have to sell some Advertising space to counter that, so that we can pay for the Dedicated Server environment.

At least the ducks are coming in a row in that respect, with the Marketing team just about ready to go with their efforts… 3 Marketers, who will bundle Rugby-Talk with another entity, which also falls within the ambit of my immediate family.

When that launches, you will all be notified, right here on Rugby-Talk.

At the moment all costs for this website, comes out of my personal pockets and not back into my pockets.

With our Web Hosts about 8 Hours behind us on the world clock, it means their measurements of traffic for today started at about 08:00 SA Time this morning, and in the 4 hours since they started measuring, we have already gone well past 13 900 Page Impressions for 20 June, with 20 hours left in the measurement period.

    @ grootblousmile:
We should talk about the maintenance cost of the site, cannot expect you to foot the bil alonel, enough of us here to club in.
So, please bruvva, work out something.

  • 201

    @ Pietman:
    …”bill…”, sorry Puma!

  • 202

    200 @ Pietman:
Not to worry Pieta, I am not a pauper… but it would be nice if the site pays for itself, whilst giving us all the joy we are experiencing already!

  • 203

    @ grootblousmile:
How does the site pay for itself, through adverts?
If so, we must start marketing the site then, easy as that.
And you have Briekie right there, who knows that side of the business inside out, so what’s the problem?

  • 204

    @ grootblousmile:
What about approaching SARugbyMag for Sponsorship (money). This Site might well be an ideal vehicle for them to promote up and coming young Sports Journo’s like Mark Voldy.

What is the worst they could say………………………………………..”GFY”.

    😉

  • 205

Ssshh
Scrummie sal graag help bemark, glo ek.

  • 206

    @ cane:
There you go mate, see GBS…another good idea Approve

  • 207

    203 @ Pietman:
Handbriekie’s company is going to do the marketing, 3 marketers.

But they will be bundling it in conjunction with another publication that they will be launching, both in Printed form (to 100 000 addresses) as well as online.

It will officially be part of the “Talk-family”… and a few more details will be supplied in due course, for that entity.

In theory, Rugby-Talk has a potential income of Hundreds of Thousands of Rands per month, on it’s own… at a third of the rate of some of the bigger Publishing Houses.

In this economy, I do not expect all advertising space to be filled, but if only 20% is filled, Rugby-Talk would already be making more money, after expenses, per month than most well-salaried people who have a full time job.

  • 208

    204 @ cane:
Rugby-Talk will go way past that long-established Publishing House very soon, no need to ask them for ANYTHING!

  • 209

    @ grootblousmile:
    @207 Ok, we’ll talk.
Maybe I can set up something down south Cape Town way, if you want…just give me some time to get back there, hopefully soon.

  • 210

    Ok RTs, lunch time here…
    Catch you all laters.
Sorry about us handing this one to the Poms today.
