Rugby-Talk
By the time you read this, Rugby-Talk had already glided seemlessly past 10 MILLION PAGE IMPRESSIONS (10 Million CLICKS to open or refresh the different Articles or Pages of Rugby-Talk).

For a website which started as a little discussion website between friends, about rugby and as a break-away movement from another rugby website which had resorted to racism, political immaturity, trolling, endless insults and general abuse, it’s not shabby at all, would’nt you say!!

Special Edition

Rugby-Talk is, according to my reconing now the prime Rugby discussion forum in the world, carrying impressive rugby news and information and has become the benchmark for rugby blogging in the known universe and has become the best rugby community on the Internet.

At around 21:38 SA Time on Sunday 18 May 2014, we went over the magic 10 Million mark.

10 Million Page Impressions

The little hobby has grown into a monster, the group of friends has grown into a community.

Friends gather on Rugby-Talk to discuss and celebrate rugby, new friendhips are made, news is shared and the debate is always respectful.

No wonder that Rugby-Talk has become known as “The Friendly Rugby Website and Discussion Forum”.

When I initiated Rugby-Talk, I never thought it would go so far and become what it has become. I am a proud “Daddy” of the little child which has grown into this powerful individual.

At a juncture like this, one reaches back to those one has to thank for their contributions and the help along the way… well I am quite speechless actually, thankful and happy does not aptly describe the feeling. So let me just thank each and every reader, contributor, author and friend, from the bottom of my heart.

Let me continue by thanking my family, specially my wife Annelie – I tend to call her Handbriekie from time to time, because someone has to put the brakes on in order to reign me in at times otherwise I might explode with the exuberance of life.

Also a special word of thanks to BGB Investments (Pty) Ltd trading as Big Bang Events & Marketing Solutions, the marketing company who has now also started handling the Commercial Elements of Rugby-Talk, with Directors Annelie Geldenhuys, Angelique Booysen, Leoni Bekker and Attie Bekker…. I see a bright and lucrative future together and look forward to implimenting the plans now formulated and to put them into action.

All in all, it makes the money I have spent from my personal pockets, to host, maintain and develop Rugby-Talk an absolute privilige and a pleasure.

As you know, Rugby-Talk has absorbed countless hours of mine, to get it where it is and where it will be going, so I consider myself blessed with the good health and fortune I have had over the years, to be able to continue with Rugby-Talk. It has not all been plain sailing, sacrifices have had to be made, priorities re-arranged, friendships re-eveluated, time-management re-routed and the most difficult part has maybe been to act as “Policeman on the job” to keep trolls and riff-raff out and to set the tone for the friendly rugby community.

Luckily I have very, very few nasty issues to contend with, very few occasions where I have to show someone the door… and a heap of friends who watch out for Rugby-Talk with me!

Rugby-Talk continues to grow, every month and will continue to prosper, even in this difficult economic climate where Media Houses are often hit hardest, all of it due to the solid foundations laid, the passion involved and the support we receive.

The Milestone Counter is right at the bottom of each and every Rugby-Talk Page!

Rugby-Talk has also been a wonderful impliment and school master in making me a better person, a more knowlegeable rugby man, better pogrammer and to hone some IT skills I had wanted to do for a long time. I have indeed learnt a lot and will continue to do so.

Today I am proud to be a Rugby-Talker!

    56 @ Lion4ever:
    Thanks!

It’s my favourite Rugby Site too…. hehehehe

  • 62

I decided on a bit of a change here on Rugby-Talk… the little Thumbnail pictures (which is the 1st picture on an article), will be left a bit more free to the discression for Authors to size to the size they think is apt and to place left or right as they choose… and not just limited to Thumbnail size anymore.

I Think it will make the Home Page slightly more appealing to glance at, and provide a clearer image of what the picture is trying to convey.

As long as that picture is not huge, it will be OK.

(PS! If you are an Author and unsure what I mean, have a look at my Articles from today onwards)

Seriously, you’ve done an extraordinary job even if I woke up a tad late to the table. I’m from Slaapstad afterall.

  • 72

    71 @ Tassies:
Thanks Tasse… now just make sure we see lots of you here in future!

  • 73

Nice balance on this site too. Only 3 Saaks supporters which is one too many in the current circumstances. I sense we’re going to hear more from the North Beach speedo-wearers now that they’ve downed the Saders in saturday’s 😯 win.

  • 74

@ grootblousmile: pleasure. and well deserved. Guts, determination and hard work is how I understand things work in life. 5 years is a long time. You okes are going to have to put up with me for many years to come. Waars Skoppie? Yis but Skop was a shit-stirrer of note. Damn, he certainly knew how to light the boys’ candles, No?

  • 75

    73 @ Tassies:
I’m afraid there’s a lot more than 3 Tjarkies here… Puma, Kakkers, Tjarkie_Fornever, Reycatcher, Snoek (Stinkvis)… and a number of inactive okes and ladies.

I kicked Fern out on his arse, for being a poephol, with no ears…

  • 76

    75 @ Tassies:
There are not many okes & ladies I would not get along with but I’m afraid Skoppie won’t last 25 minutes here… his first few verses of alliterated rhyme and kakpraat and either him or me will blow a foofie valve about it…. and the loonie will be kicked to touch.

  • 77

    Bok squad looks interesting.
Would love to see a tight five of Beast, Biz, Jannie, Vic and Etsebeth take on the might of the world. Backed up by H Brussouw, Alberts and Vermeulen. Nice little combo methinks. Tough to get past those guys first up. Then Frikkie, Skalla and Kolisi to freshen up things in the final 10. Niks wrong with that firepower.
Wonder who Meyer has in mind to join FDP in the backyard?

  • 78

@ grootblousmile: its what I figured. I actually met Skop once(at Grant’s hideout in Clifton). You could have knocked me down with a calf-horn. Not exactly what I’d have expected have to say. Quiet, introspective. S’tru. Actually a decent guy to talk to in the flesh. Since that meeting I never had a problem with Skop. But that’s just me. I suspect I was the exception.

  • 79

    77 @ Tassies:
Unfortunately I still think Ruan Pienaar is in line as third scrummie… I would much rather have gone for Rory Kockott or if local is reequired for Super Sareltjie or Charl McLeod or Cobus Reinach.

At flyhalf things are looking a bit bleak, so Heyneke would probably have to bring back MornΓ© Steyn and have Frans Steyn, Marnitz Boshoff & Johan Goosen in the queue (that would be my order of preference).

  • 80

    78 @ Tassies:
I know who he is.. Little Andy…

But damn man, he is not all there in the head if his real persona and blogging persona is so radically different.

He certainly then suffers from Keyboard Multiple Personality Disorder… and is still certifiable.

  • 81

@ grootblousmile: I always understood Rye was a Stormer stalking the N Suburbs of CT(could be wrong). Real gentleman that oke. Fernie has a serious opinion of himself and is always sailing close to the wind. Pumes is probably the gentleman of all gentlemen out there in the blogsphere. Always a pleasure to swop a story with Pumes. Anytime. It helps that he knows and is passionate about his rugga, right down to the feeder leagues.

  • 82

    81 @ Tassies:
Janee, Oompie Wobbly Knees (Puma) is a gentleman, even when we have had “Fight Club” threads (Mock fight threads) here on R-T, he is unable to insult… just cannot do it, it’s not in his mind or fingers to do it!

We have some bloody good okes here on R-T in general!

  • 83

@ grootblousmile: I think its going to be Fransie in the front row of that queue and I’d endorse that. Morne is yesteryear and a fallback option IMO if Fransie’s kicking is kak. No disrespect but Morne represents the old style of play. Fransie offers something different and the opposition will fear that ‘distance’ for sure. Kyk daai drop on saturday. 55m nogall. Just made it but they all count. Makes someone think twice about incurring that little indiscretion at the breakdown(hey Richie?).

  • 84

@ grootblousmile: skitso is the scientific term. Ja, I suspect a good dollop of that. My, did he wind some people up. I suspect there was a good bit of that in there too. But yes, clean over the top most-times.

  • 85

    83 @ Tassies:
I could easily live with a Springbok backline as follows:

    9 Fourie du Preez
    10 Frans Steyn
    11 Cornal Hendricks
    12 Damian de Allende
13 Jean de Villiers / Juan de Jongh
    14 Willie le Roux
    15 Lwazi Mvovo

Now THAT backline stands back for nothing the All Blacks offer on attack, defence, in the kicking department, everything is just there!

… but it won’t happen like that… of that I am also sure…

Hello , another old Quote from a great friend here.

    4man

Note he called it a clean joke

The teacher said, “Let’s begin by reviewing some American history. Who said ‘Give me Liberty, or give me Death’?”
She saw a sea of blank faces, except for Little Hodiaki, a bright foreign exchange student from Japan, who had his hand up.

’Patrick Henry, 1775,’ he said.

’Very good!’
Who said, ‘Government of the People, by the People, for the People, shall not perish from the Earth?’

Again, no response except from Little Hodiaki, ‘Abraham Lincoln, 1863.’

’Excellent … !’, said the teacher continuing, ‘let’s try one a bit more difficult….’

Who said, ‘Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country?’

Once again, Hodiaki’s was the only hand in the air and he said, ‘John F. Kennedy, 1961’.

The teacher snapped at the class, ‘Class, you should be ashamed of yourselves, little Hodiaki isn’t from this country and he knows more about our history than you do.’

    She heard a loud whisper, ‘F . . K the Japs.’

    ‘Who said that …. ?
I want to know right now ….!’ she angrily demanded.

Little Hodiaki put his hand up, ‘General MacArthur, 1945.’

At that point, a student in the back said, ‘I’m gonna puke.’

The teacher glared around and asks, ‘All right! Now who said that …. ?’

Again, little Hodiaki said, ‘George Bush to the Japanese Prime Minister, 1991.’

Now furious, another student yelled, ‘Oh yeah …. ? Suck this ….. !’

Little Hodiaki jumped out of his chair waving his hand and shouted to the teacher, ‘Bill Clinton to Monica Lewinsky, 1997!’

Now with almost mob hysteria someone said, ‘You little shit. If you say anything else, I’ll kill you.’

Little Hodiaki frantically yelled at the top of his voice, “Michael Jackson to the child witness testifying against him, 2004.’

    The teacher fainted.

As the class gathered around the teacher on the floor, someone said, ‘Oh shit …. , we’re screwed ….!’
Little Hodiaki said quietly, ‘The Australian Rugby Team, 2011.’

@ grootblousmile: ‘wobbly knees’ comes from too many marathons I suspect. Did a few myself so can sympathise. Fortunately I sensed when to call it quits.
Running is not all its cracked up to be.

  • 88

    84 @ Tassies:
Ja, Skop is in old terms just solidly off his rocker, mal soos ‘n haas, gefok innie kop, poer in sy moer, varkies op hol.

  • 89

@ grootblousmile: Nice. And it might. Any coach worth his salt(and here I rate Meyer as being a good coach) recognises that speed on the outside is a serious weapon. Le Roux picks himself. Hendricks and Mvovo provide that speed in doses. I’ve always rated De Jong(has that x-factor). Outside De Villiers he can be lethal. Fransie is playing very well and deserves a crack at 10. Who knows were FDP is right now? But quality is born not made. Potent backline you have there.

  • 90

    87 @ Tassies:
Eish, I ran enough in the Weermag, am built for long distances and blessed with a very natural fitness built in… but damn man, I need to compete on a court or a pitch, I need to be able to outwit the opponent there and then… it is just built into my personality.

I also cannot gym, I have no motivation for shit like that….
