Brian MujatiElton JantjiesEP KingsThe Eastern Province Kings are chasing the signature of Springbok prop Brian Mujati ahead of the start of the Currie Cup.

The Kings have already been bolstered by the recent signings of lock Izak van der Westhuizen (Edinburgh), hooker Michael van Vuuren (Stade Français), centre Tim Whitehead (Sharks), scrumhalf Kevin Luiters (Cheetahs) and wing Paul Perez (Samoa).

They also signed Shaun Sowerby (forwards) and Michael Horak (defence) to be assistant coaches for head coach Carlos Spencer.

The Kings are looking for an experienced prop with Mujati reportedly being pursued. The Kings also tried to lure Mujati to Port Elizabeth two years ago, but their attempt proved unsuccessful.

Mujati played 12 Tests for the Springboks before taking up a contract with Northampton Saints in 2009. He currently plays for French club Racing Metro.

The Kings are also after Elton Jantjies’s signature. The Bok flyhalf hasn’t featured much for the Lions in 2014 and is said to be keen on renewing his relationship with Carlos Spencer at the Kings. The duo first worked together at the Lions.

Elton Jantjies has certainly fallen a heck of a lot, from a very good attacking flyhalf to barely making the Lions bench these days.

Maybe it’ll be a good thing if you go rediscover your mojo under Carlos Spencer.

Mujati… well lets see if he signs.

Mujati is on record as saying that he’s in Europe for the financial well being of his family.

Nothing needs to be added to that unless the Kings have some Euros stashed away somewhere.

As for Jantjies, I fear that unless the Lions secure some decent sponsors / partners soon there will be a mass exodus come November.

    Financial reality is a bitch.
