Super RugbyIt is Round 7 of Super Rugby 2014 this weekend! We have 6 games in Round 7, with 2 games on Friday and 4 games on Saturday.

The Lions, Toyota Cheetahs & Western Force have bye weekends.

In June / July 2014 the Antipodian teams will catch up in played games with the South African counterparts, when the South African sides sit out for 1 Round.

The Combined Log will therefore be skewed for the majority of the competition and one has to question why individual countries are allowed to start such a long competition ahead of it’s rivals. In 2013 the Australian sides started a week early, but at least they had the excuse that they needed an extra week in the middle of the year to prepare for the British & Irish Lions series, which they lost.

  • 3

Could be a difficult weekend for the SA sides… all three games could go the way of the Aussie and New Zealand sides if we’re not careful!

  • 4

    Predictions??

Crusaders (Hurricanes have been utter shyte and the Crusaders should come right at some stage, I feel)
Brumbies (surely they should beat the Rebels even away from home)
Highlanders (Blues have been crappy except against the Crusaders)
Reds (Stormers are diabollical at present)
    Bulls / Chiefs (a 50 / 50 maybe?)
Sharks (surely the Sharks can’t be crap 2 weeks in a row, even against a good Waratahs side)

Goeie humoristiese artikel op te lees

    http://www.supersport.com/rugby/super-rugby/news/140326/No_one_can_bake_the_cake_like_Jake

According to News24 Johan Goosen is in France while his team mates are having a much needed bye after the tour. Goose is talking to Club Racing Metro as a possible replacement for Johnny Sexton, the third highest paid player in the world
Not bad for the boytjie from ‘Burgersdorpie’, ek se!

  • 8

  • 9

Bit soon for the Goose to be talking to clubs in France when the Goise can’t even manage a full season of super rugby.

    Yes,I have me doubts…

  • 11

    @ Pietman:

It’s also an example of our overseas player policy not working.

It’s one thing for the Habanas of this world to go overseas quite another for 24 year olds to be heading.

  • 12

    @ gunther:

Club rugby in France is slow in comparison to superrugby as there are lots of middle aged players around who has seen better (and faster) days.

The level of conditioning is also not as high as in super rugby … remember Divvie’s comment when frans Steyn arrived back from France looking like a miniature walrus.

So perhaps it is just the place for the Goose to ensure his fragile body wont have to take many knocks while earning his Euros.

10 Changes made, that’s even more than the Strompies

Sharks – 15 Lwazi Mvovo, 14 Odwa Ndungane, 13 S’bura Sithole, 12 Frans Steyn, 11 JP Pietersen, 10 Fred Zeilinga, 9 Charl McLeod, 8 Ryan Kankowski, 7 Jean Deysel, 6 Marcell Coetzee, 5 Stephan Lewies, 4 Willem Alberts, 3 Jannie du Plessis, 2 Bismarck du Plessis (c), 1 Beast Mtawarira.
Subs: 16 Kyle Cooper, 17 Dale Chadwick, 18 Lourens Adriaanse, 19 Etienne Oosthuizen, 20 Keegan Daniel, 21 Stefan Ungerer, 22 Heimar Williams, 23 SP Marais.

  • 14

    @ robzim:

I’m afraid you can’t use anything Divot says as the basis for any argument.

    Ever.

  • 15

Good idea. the goose can tour the crap out of europe everytime he is injured.

  • 16

    @ nortierd:
That is a good, probably their best team so far this year, they just need Botes in at 6, and give Chadwick more game time over Beast.

The backline is a beast, gosh if they had Michalak now…

  • 17

    @ Pietman:

  • 18

    @ gunther:

    Perhaps not.

Remember this one : “If I am the weakest line then we are bloody strong. I am a God-given talent. I am the best I can ever be. I know what I am and I don’t give a damn ”

Even Jose Mourinho would have enjoyed it 🙂

  • 19

    @ robzim:
That is really like suggesting the all players in France are overweight and so unprofessional, it is pretty tough playing there.

I think Frans got thrust-ed into too much very early in his career, and just needed a bit of a break, I think he is as good now if not even better than before he left. We put too much pressure on these guys to be the next best thing that will “save” our rugby, when they are merely 20 or 21.

Would be a shame if Goosen went, but the hype in him is fast fading unless he can play a full season, or just 80% of a season of rugby.

  • 20

    @ MacroBull:

Ja, i also think he is a confidence plasyer and the fact that his team is struggling does not help him either. At his best he offers more than any current flyhalf in SA in my opinion.

  • 21

    Piri Wepu had a stroke

  • 22

    @ MacroBull:
Poor guy, but it sounds minor as these things go as he had the stroke some time back but was unaware of it and has been playing through it. Hope he recovers fully.

    http://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/rugby/9874208/Weepu-out-for-4-weeks-after-stroke

  • 23

    @ kaksioek:
    that explains his form

  • 24

    22 @ kaksioek:
    Wow, this is amazing news.

Here’s hoping the best for Piri Weepu… no injury or medical condition to a player is ever nice to see.

  • 25

    @ grootblousmile:
en dan is hy nog n all round nice guy

  • 26

Only the Chiefs team sheet still outstanding!

  • 27

    Proteas lyk weer beroerd
