First of all congrats to the Lions. There defense has improved dramatically.

Will give the Stormers the benefit of the doubt, since this is their 1st game of the season but what a poor performance.

This Lions team played with 14 men for 60mins and the Stormers had no answer as to how to penetrate their defensive line.

The Stormers had no imagination and absolutely no creativity.

The Hurricanes are no pushover and if this is the best the Stormers have got their “overseas leg of hell” will actually be respite from local media ridicule.

Only watched the Sharks and Stormers game now. Recorded it as went to a wedding yesterday. Gosh the Stormers were very very poor they have gone back a lot now. Have to say Kudos to the Lions that was a great performance and welcome back to super rugby. That is a very good start after being out for a year. Will talk about my Sharksm on the Sharks thread.

    Howzit Fern,

How you doing bud? hope well.

    Nicely done Lions.

Honestly didn’t see this one coming.

Now, how much did the fact that they where on the side-lines for a year assist in these past two weeks results? I say a lot!

That’s what I like about a promotion relegation scenario, the hunger to play rugby must be there to be competitive, and the Lions have lost there’s a long time ago. So welcome back Lions, I honestly hope to see more of this from your side.

What were the problems on the Stormers side?

List is too long, site might crash.
It’s nothing we didn’t expect, we have had a better side the last few years, and still they weren’t good enough to win any trophies or score tries.
This year we have a terrible side, so we won’t be winning any or too many games.
I honestly just stopped watching after they went something like 19 nil down in 19 minutes, not worth my time to watch them.
    If Stormers NEED t
O score tries just to catch up, we know they are farked, because we can’t score tries.
I can’t see us having any log points when we come back from our tour, opposition to be faced are contenders, will be too good by a mile.
The annual Loftus game is shaping up to be for the wooden spoon this year

    Ha ha
I gave up on watching them play, not worth suffering through that punishment.
When they announced the starting line up I had a feeling we would lose, but to take a hammering against a team who won’t get close to the top 6 says a lot.
We might beat the Bulls and Cheetahs once somewhere in the season, and perhaps pox a win against another poor side, but that’s about it.
They don’t have the players to fix it and the coaches will believe that it was just a blimp on the road, but those that have been following them for years know that at our best with our best players, we couldn’t win this comp. now we have terrible players, our only strong feature, defense is non existent, so we have nothing to offer or change the situation.
Tries can’t be scored, so we can’t accumulate points and we can’t stop a CC side from scoring 34 points against us, that spells huge disaster in my books

    @ nortierd:
With having over 60% of possession and territory, shouldn’t the Stormers had to deliver much more?
More so when Peyper started sending Lions forwards off and penalising the Lions just for breathing on occasions or so it seemed?
    AND
They ruined my hard earned wager money, same as the Bulls did Friday 😉
Skop and Nama should have the grace to show up and give us their angle of the fiasco? Gee that is a Pro Rugby after all and someone is accountable?

  • 224

what makes it worse is the stormers own version of spies is bound to waalk back in the side to partner jdv in the midfield.

That’s just more proof of why I say the Lions also won’t be up there at the end of the season.
They’ve won two great games, but have only scored one try, so they will still play against proper opposition and then we can gauge how good they are.
They are fortunate to pull a poor Cheetah side, a pisspoor Stormer side and another pisspoor Bull side in their 1st 3 weeks.
Only then they start facing decent teams.
Bar the Sharks, the SA conference is a joke this year, an absolute one horse race for the Sharks

Yes, they will now all of a sudden think that Juan Kanniepass will save us, and a midget in Kolbe who has never played at this level.
Nothing against Kolbe, I like him and think he is exciting, but what do you think those NZ and Aus wings will do to him.
The Sharks have an embarrassment of riches when it comes to their players, the Stormers and Bulls only an embarrassment.

  • 227

    @ Puma:
Hi Puma! Thanks for the welcome. I couldn’t resist after watching the Stormers get nailed by the Lions … had to see how some of their fans were taking it 😉
The Sharks had a scrappy game against the Canes, but the winning margin was pretty healthy. They’re in a good place and will only get better.

    Hello,

    Welcome to Rugby-Talk

  • 229

    @ grootblousmile:
Hi, thanks, you’re doing good work here. The Keo exiles appreciate it 😉

  • 230

    229 @ kaksioek:
You guys should have joined here long ago… this is a good place for rugby supporters.

Pity about Voldy (Keo), I know some of you was there for long.

At least here, there is someone who cares about the cummunity and the community cares about this place.

It is good to be rugby supporters, who can talk about rugby.

  • 231

    @ grootblousmile:
Yes, I was never a fan of Keo himself (read my handle backwards) – but the community was fun. Hope your site can replace it. Does Skopskiet post here? (Every village needs an idiot.)

  • 232

    231 @ kaksioek:
    Hehehe

I like the way you think with your nickname.

I don’t Skop will last here… think Fern is our “Village Idiot”…

    Happy-Grin

  • 233

    @ grootblousmile:
Ah, that’s a shame – I miss Skoppie. About as useful as a pair of pants with one leg, but you don’t find one of those every day.

  • 234

    233 @ kaksioek:
Maybe if he goes for some serious councilling, for 6 years… in a padded cell… he would be welcome here.

  • 235

    @ kaksioek:

    Skop is a legend!

Great so many Keoites are finding their feet here. It would be a shame to loose the bones of the original community.

BTW Blue Bird = Carol from Keo

  • 236

    @ grootblousmile:

Nice to see some familiar names here!! 🙂

  • 237

I am delighted with my superbru start this time.

I think the fact I forgot to do the first two picks may have helped!!

  • 238

    @ Blue Bird:
Yes, good to see you Carol. Good win for England against Ireland – best game of the weekend.

  • 239

    @ kaksioek:

We rather enjoyed the Wales game!! I went to see them play Italy and that game was painful to be honest, great they woke up a bit this weekend.

Only saw the second half of the England game, but I liked the result!! 🙂
