Super RugbySuper Rugby is already in Round 2, with the Antipodion teams also taking part this weekend. We have 7 games in Round 2, with 2 games on Friday, 4 games on Saturday and 1 game in the early hours (SA Time) on Sunday morning.

The Melbourne Rebels have a bye weekend, right at the outset, but of course Bye Points fall away in 2014.

In  June / July 2014 the Antipion teams will catch up in played games with the South African counterparts, when the South African sides sit out for 1 Round.

The Combined Log will therefore be skewed for the majority of the competition and one has to question why individual countries are allowed to start such a long competition ahead of it’s rivals. In 2013 the Australian sides started a week early, but at least they had the excuse that they needed an extra week in the middle of the year to prepare for the British & Irish Lions series, which they lost.

(The Weekend Teams are also up under the Main Menu, Super Rugby, 2014, Weekend Teams.)

    26 @ MacroBull:

    Yip probably you right.

  • 32

    25 @ Stormersboy:

    Howzit bud,

Who is Van der Spuy and Van Wyk? Have no clue who they are.

  • 34

    @23
Elton kicks like a machine, unless he is we raring a Stormers jersey.
Same as with the Cheetahs, against us last year they slot a penalty in injury time from the sideline, but against another team, they miss from straight out in front.
It’s fun being a Stormer supporter, you really need a sense of humor

  • 35

    @23
    Wearing not raring

  • 36

Nice comment on Rugby365 of the Stormer’s team

The Ndunganes will be happy to know that they are now officially not the slowest wings anymore 🙂

@ MacroBull: Who would you take out of the starting team to make room for Deon, i am with you on the fact that the Lions didn’t look like scoring a try against the cheetahs.

  • 38

    24 @ nortierd:

Well that is the way the Stormers have played in past years and have topped our conference playing that way. Though they should use Demetri more than just a kicker. I think he will be good for Stormers this year.

Yip the Sharks were very good in the CC then think we worked on how to get past your defence and it worked well.

  • 39

    @ Puma:
The one is from the Kings and the other is from the U21 side.

  • 40

    @ nortierd:
Life is like a box of chocolates never know what to expect when your a Stormers supporter.

  • 41

    39 @ Stormersboy:

Okay just forget who played for the Kings last year. Hardly watch the u21’s so have not seen him. Will take note on Saturday.

  • 42

    @38 Puma
That’s why I mentioned on the other thread that we have stagnated and regressed, where you have been pro active. Hence my assertion that the Sharks should easily get 32 points from their derbies plus some bonus points for tries. I can’t see any SA side challenging or troubling the Sharks this year. We saw the Bulls, Cheetahs and Lions in action, and none of them look like challenging, and judging by this Stormers side selected, I doubt Jake will be having sleepless nights

I have a feeling that this weekends SuperBru is going to sink me.
I shouldn’t have put in my picks for round 2 last week already. I would probably go back and pick the Lions after seeing our team and what they did against the Cheetahs

If you become any more sour I am going to squeeze you out on my fish tonight

  • 45

    42 @ nortierd:

Season is long bud have to wait and see how my Sharks go against the kiwi sides and for that matter the Brumbies and Tahs from Oz. We playing the Canes this weekend and they will be another challenge totally to a saffa side. Also remember there will be injuries as that seems to be inevitable in this tourney. Still say the team with the least injuries at the end will take the cup.

  • 46

Okay cheers everyone. Really busy right now. Back later.

Cmon guys, future Boks here 😉

    v/d Spuy:
Highly rated in the junior ranks, versatile player with great hands, capable fly half as well
    Physical: 1.81m, 89kg

    van Wyk:
Former National age group center with the bulk that they need on the wing, he recently switched position to wing and impressed in the warm-ups that he is considered higher that Pat Howard
    Physical: 1,90m/94kg

Can’t argue the Sharks really got a BEAST of a squad this year, if they don’t perform as expected i would be surprised. But we can always hope that this is the Stormers year if not we still got next year..

  • 50

What I don’t get here is that folks are rating hookers who can’t throw in. Ntembu is a good rugby player, yet a crap hooker. Same as Fourie, same as the piece of shit from the Sharks who HM made a Bok and then went to France, same as both Bulls hookers and same as most ANZAC hookers.

First job is to throw in, then to hook (the new laws have made this more important) then to be an excellent all round player.

This is why Strauss is a better hooker than Bismark, but not a better player.

  • 51

    50@loosehead
Very true, I think Scarra is a safer bet come throw in time than Deon though.
I can’t help thinking the Stormers should have made Andrew Hore an offer he couldn’t refuse for this season, similar to what they did with Chris Jack at WP a couple of years ago. The guy was still good enough for the All Blacks 3 months ago. He could have made a very good back up hooker and could have imparted a lot of knowledge.
I hope we get our line out throwing better than last year, it’s probably the nr. 1 try scoring opportunity we have, the rolling maul 5m out.

This is the thing. The Stomps are poaching for a wing, but can’t see that the more important position of hooker is screaming for a decent player.

  • 53

Yep, Tiaan is probably the better hooker there, but he’s a walking sick note, so they can’t rely on him being around for even 2 games in a row without ending up on the psysio table

  • 54

SuperRugby Pierre Spies is out of the Cheetahs clash this weekend because of an elbow injury. Flip Van Der Merwe will captain the side.

  • 55

    54 @ Sharks_forever:

    Howzit bro,

That means Engelbrecht then will probably start. So not a bad thing at all for Bulls.

  • 56

    50 @ Loosehead:

He never made him a Bok but only a tourist. Burden was never capped.

    Blessing in disguise?
    Vleis to start.
If only somehow Hougaard can injure his elbow slightly before Saturday

  • 58

Everyone keeps saying Andrew Hore should have been brought in, who says he is interested, he is a difficult person to work with and drinks like a fish
    Let him go

  • 59

    Helllooooooooooooo

What a good day in R-T’s marketing efforts.

Boys, looks like we have signed a big fish!

Will update a lot of news just now….
