South AfricaNew ZealandThis important Test match is turning out to be the final of The Rugby Championship of 2013, however it is not a winner-takes-all final, but rather a terms-and-conditions-apply final.

A draw or a win for the All Blacks and the trophy is theirs. The Springboks on the other hand need to do a lot more. They need 4 tries, they need to prevent the All Blacks from scoring 4 tries and they need to beat the All Blacks by more than 7 points to win the trophy. If the Springboks just win the match without scoring 4 tries they will finish second, 1 Log point behind the All Blacks. All the All Blacks need is 1 solitary Log point, to secure this year’s Rugby Championship.

The Springboks have a great record at Ellis Park, when facing the All Blacks and recorded a massive win here under the coaching of Jake White in 2004 of 40 / 26.

For the Springboks to take the title will be a tall order, but not an impossible one. This could turn out to be the clash of the year.

I just want a win out of this. Get that start that we can build on till WC in 2015.
If we do however win with 4 tries and 8+ points it will be arguably oen of our greatest victories ever.

    @ Gena_ZA:
Agree completely. A win is a must, and the margin is less important to me. We have to make it a rarity for the ABs to win in SA and we have to maintain the Ellis Park hoodoo. If we do go on to win the Championship, it may not be our most prestigious victory but it would be our greatest ever win on the field. The RC has already been spoilt by the ref in NZ and a clear win by the BOks would give us the moral victory. If we play into the AB’s hands and go for broke to score the 4 tries and end up losing, this would give the ABs the moral and official victory as they would then have beaten us home and away, so nullifying the disputed Eden Park match. Just go for the win Bokke and worry about the Championship next year.

Our Boks my go for the WIN that is the most important thing. We simply can not lose to ABs at Ellis Park.

If we somehow get the 4 tries and don’t allow them a bonus point then that will be the cherry on top. A win is first prize against the ABs.

GOOD LUCK OUR BOKKE! We play smart and no yellow cards we will win it.

should read = Our Boks must

    2 @ The_Young_Turk:
Totally agree. Said so on keo this week. We should go for the win first and go and win it next year. A win is by far more important tomorrow.

  • 6

We absolutely have to make a statement to any team playing us at Ellis Park. You play us there you sure to lose to the Springboks. So a win is crucial for us tomorrow.

Just win it tomorrow Bokke. Your supporters will feel job well done. We go and get the RC next year.

Here is a piece of a article from news24.

    McCaw relishes Ellis Park clash

Johannesburg – New Zealand captain Richie McCaw will fulfil a boyhood ambition when he leads the All Blacks out in their final Rugby Championship match against South Africa at Ellis Park in Johannesburg on Saturday.

The flank has achieved much in his previous 119 caps, lifting the Rugby World Cup trophy in 2011 the crowning moment, but he has one last Everest to climb, beating the Springboks at what New Zealand considers South African rugby’s spiritual home.

McCaw was 14 years old when the Springboks defeated the All Blacks in extra time to lift the 1995 World Cup at Ellis Park, a scar that still runs deep in New Zealand rugby.

“Growing up, you heard that this is the place to really test yourself, the reason why they call it Test rugby,” McCaw told reporters on Friday.

“This will be my first Test here and the boys and I are pretty excited about it.

“All the guys have played Super Rugby here, but this will be something pretty different and a really big challenge. The atmosphere will be tough and pretty noisy, it always is when we play in South Africa.”

A comprehensive win is a must for SA

    Smit: Forget the Championship!
    – Decorated former Springbok captain John Smit believes winning the Rugby Championship should not be the focal point for South Africa and they should rather focus on their continued upward trajectory.

“For me, the Championship (title) is irrelevant for this team. It is about progression and beating the All Blacks. It’s about getting these little skeletons on the belt and they’ve been doing it,” Smit said on Thursday.

“This Springbok team has won nine out of 10 Test matches, that is their record, so they are going okay.”

The Springboks could claim the Rugby Championship title for the first time in four years when they faced New Zealand in Saturday’s decider at Ellis Park.

I disagree. Go big Bokke. Glory to the Brave. Big challenges brings big glory. This is a big chance to get that memory that just put a smile on your face if you remember it. Go for the Big one.

    10: Approve

Jy dink soos ‘n kampioen. Ek sê ook – gaan vir alles of niks. Speel asof dit die WB finaal van 2015 is, take no prisoners, gaan van die begin vir bonuspunt wen, want waarvoor jy mik sal bepaal wat jy gaan raakskiet.
