AustraliaSouth AfricaThe hype building up to this match was big and the result as well especially if you support the Springboks. They dominated from the word go and also built the lead from early on. The match started at a huge tempo and held that most of the match, giving fans a great match to watch. The scoring of the match started slow with the Springboks scoring a early try but the Wallabies stayed in touch with penalties.

The end result of 38 – 12 in favour of the Springboks and a bonus point to boot has moved the Springboks 1 Log point clear at the top of the Log, 1 point ahead of the All Blacks, who they will be facing next weekend.

The Springboks also broke their drought at Suncorp Stadium as well as the drought in Brisbane since 1971 and proved that they can beat major teams, away from home, in their back yards. With 9 wins a row a lot of people will back the Springboks to beat the All Blacks next weekend and this clash could turn out to be the decider for who could take The Rugby Championship in 2013.

The Wallabies on the other hand have no wins in The Rugby Championship in 2013 year and also find themselves at the bottom of the Log. They play the Pumas from Argentina next weekend, which is most probably going to be a make or break game for their season, as should they lose it will be most likely that they will remain at the botton of the Log through the rest of The Rugby Championship.

Willie le Roux Duane VermeulenAdam Ashley-Cooper James O'ConnorThe Springboks will be taking a lot of positives from this match, but the Wallabies have their work cut out for them if they want to beat the Pumas on the weekend.

Players who stood out in this match were Duane Vermeulen and Willie Le Roux for the Springboks and James O’Connor and Adam Ashley-Cooper for the Wallabies.

James O’Connor and Adam Ashley-Cooper were the only two Wallaby players that ever seemed capable of getting past some of the Springbok defenses. They were also the only players who did not try to have a constant chatting session with the referee.

Duan Vermeulen made his big presence felt with big hits on defense and hard rucking, whereas Willie Le Roux should be kept on the right wing. He scored his first try for the Springboks and played a big part in the Zane Kirchner try. There were numerous Sprinbok players that can be mentioned, as this was a well rounded team effort.

Overall

9 Out of 10 / 3 Out of 10

The Springboks receives a 9/10, as they scored a bonus point victory away from home. They showed that they are the team to beat in this year’s The Rugby Championship and they also look as the most rounded of teams in this year’s competition.

The Wallabies receive a 3/10 as they were never in this match, with a lack of discipline and too much talking on the field cost them. They were overpowered in all aspects of the game.

Thank you very much bud for putting that straight.

Percy Montgomery celebrated becoming the first man to play 100 tests for the Springboks and Juan Smith made his 50th appearance in the green and gold, but neither man will recall the occasion with any fondness.

What is surprisingly, if one looks at the score, is that the Springboks enjoyed far more try scoring opportunities than the All Blacks. However, poor option taking, poor ball retention, and a lack of patience undid all the good work that brought the SA side to within metres of the New Zealand tryline on numerous occasions.
    Unreliable lineout

While the Springbok scrum was solid and “Beast” Mtawarira really impressive at loosehead prop, it was the lineout that was strangely unreliable. If anything, the opposite could have been expected.

The All Blacks, led by Richie McCaw’s committed example, ruled the loose phases. They succeeded in regularly turning over ball; the manner in which they did so was fine by the reckoning of referee Matt Goddard, but it had Springbok skipper Victor Matfield in a huff.

One got the sense that the difference between a good leader like Matfield and an exceptional leader like John Smit was evident in the cauldron of the high stakes game.

I think we could all agree unanimously that none of us wants Ruan to start, my personal opinion is that Vermaak deserves to be there more because he had a great year…

It is just unfair how Ruan gets criticized sometimes when I don’t think anyone else would have done better in a certain instance. Front foot ball is absolutely crucial and has been the reason NZ has been so dominant the last decade.

  • 35

    @ superBul:
I do not understand super, our scrum may have been fine but it seems as if our forwards were extremely poor in the lineouts and at the breakdown. Surely this enforces our point?

  • 36

    @ MacroBull:
Find a comment where i blamed Ruan. I understand why HM is playing him. He is the closest guy who can kick, with that i mean his FH experience is what HM wants. HE(Ruan) himself admited earlier last week he must up the ante. He did witch showed HM was right about his ability all along. But he will NEVER spark the Boks when he is being rushed. Jano will snipe around , Fourie has vision but Ruan is just big and reliable in the game plan HM choses.

No man, don’t be a fuddy duddy… no need to go to any naughty corner for a week!

Hell, you okes can surely differ on a point without sulking..

Shrug it off… continue to talk to us, without being indignant and feeling insulted.

I pity your wife, does she have to put up with sulking too?

PS! Let me get this clear, the last bit was meant as one big joke, I was not serious!

    37 @ grootblousmile:
Its not that GBS. I really don’t come here or onto keo for a fight. I go to this site and that one mostly to really talk about the rugby. We all differ I know that. We all have opinions and that all it is. I just give my opinions if I am wrong I apologise. Just the kind of person I am and I do expect an apology here, because we more or less like a family here.

Macro and I was having a good debate and in walks Super and buts in and honestly gets its all screwed up. He should apologise but he wont.

    @ MacroBull:
Ek dink ek praat liewers Afrikaans verder.

why are you getting so worked up?

your behaviour is ridiculous and childish.

Chris Rattue: Titanic clash looms at Eden Park. This from the New Zealand Herald.

The All Blacks’ remarkable record at Eden Park will fall on Saturday. There, got that out, and now for the theories.

Call it a hunch, call it madness, but there is a cocky, fresh-looking Springbok pack heading this way while the All Blacks’ exertions against the muscular Argentines have taken petrol out of their tank. Using a lesson from the 2011 World Cup, it is advisable to evaluate the physical toll from previous games. The All Blacks have a clutch of injured players due back but that in itself could prove a problem if they are, collectively, not quite right.

South African sides operate best on straightforward game plans. Pretoria is the home of rugby simplicity and Heyneke Meyer is transferring that blueprint to the national side.

They were men against boys in Brisbane, where the Wallaby pack rolled over in the face of gigantic opponents. Springbok captain Jean de Villiers’ post-match words for the Wallabies typified why he is held in high regard but that shouldn’t mask the attitude within, a mood that emerged as the big Boks appeared to taunt their feeble opponents.

Australia are turning into a rugby embarrassment but that doesn’t detract from how impressive South Africa were and their confidence will be lifted by the absence of Richie McCaw.

The All Blacks desperately need a fit Owen Franks to anchor the front row, which in turn will help avoid an excess of scrum trauma that can affect them elsewhere. Liam Messam’s defensive ability, physical qualities and experience are also a must. But there will be doubts over the fitness of both, the McCaw factor is gone, there is a lack of 80-minute power and authority at hooker, the same applies at lock if Sam Whitelock or Brodie Retallick can’t go the distance, and the All Blacks have not established assured impact from their bench.

A strange contradiction surrounds the All Blacks this year. On one hand there is much to admire yet on the other they actually look ready to crack, especially as a few players are heading over the hill.

South African sides tend to be at their best when they don’t over-complicate the game plan. Against Australia, they created the rubble before running amok. Morne Steyn remains a weakness and a strength – his composure and goalkicking are a must yet the Springboks will never reach another level while he plods around in the No10 jersey. Wing Willie le Roux – a Cory Jane type – partly compensates for this but rugby traditional Bulls style doesn’t actually covet another level anyway.

It’s a dangerous business betting against the All Blacks and especially at Eden Park, where they are unbeaten for nearly 20 years. But there comes a time when that danger becomes too attractive.

The Boks look primed, and Auckland’s changing demographics will afford them major support. Whatever the outcome, a titanic clash is in store. This is, once again, the battle of all battles in world rugby. Can’t wait.

Friend, I know you mean well… I also know that SuperBul is not a vindictive oke and on top of it all English is not his strongest suit (sorry SuperBul… hehehe), so all I say is this is a storm in a teacup and neither of the 2 of you need to be oversensitive about it.

Take it this way, if this was a rugby game and you got tackled without the ball, there is no way you should get a Yellow Card or give yourself a Yellow Card and withdraw.

We are men… we differ… we show resilience..

… and yes, we remain a family and community…

Come on, I’ll set up your farked Modem Router to appease you… how’s that?

Ruan is nie my eerste keuse nie.

I apologize for you misunderstang my poor ingrish

    @ grootblousmile:

    43 @ grootblousmile:
Look we are more like brothers here. A spat here is like a sibling spat I know that. But don’t we shake hands and say sorry if we wrong? I was taught that. Hell my old man would have klapped me hard if I never apologised if I was wrong. You know me gbs very well. We have been blogging together for well over 5 years or 6 years now. From keo to here all of us. I definitely will not get into a fight. That is not what I come here or there for ever. If it gets heated I log off. I live my life like that as well. I certainly do not get into fights. Banter yes, not fights. This is my home blog and the site I enjoy the most and the people here I enjoy the most to blog with as well. So I expect some decency really. If one gets it wrong so what, say sorry. It is easy and no hardship.

Anyhow enough of this. Look at the part of the Herald I copied and posted here. They think we will win on Saturday.

Brakpan Oom: “Ek speel gholf. Ek staan voor sonop, speel 18 putjies en drink twee glase wyn.”

“Interessant. Hoe oud was jou pa toe hy dood is?”
“Wie se my pa is dood?”
Die dokter is verstom. “Jy is 80, en jou pa leef nog?!
    Hoe oud is hy?”
“Hy is 100. Hy het vanoggend nog saam met my gespeel.

“Wel,” se die dokter, “en hoe oud was jou oupa toe hy dood is?”
“Wie sê my oupa is dood?”
“Wat!? En hoe oud is hy?”
    “Hy is 118.”
“Hy het seker ook vanoggend saam met julle gholf gespeel?”
“Nee, hy het dit nie vanoggend gemaak nie. Hy trou vandag.”

    “Trou?
Hoekom wil iemand wat 118 is trou?”
“Wie sê my oupa wou trou ?” Hy moes trou..!”

  • 53

    @ superBul:
nee kyk your preaching to the choir. ek dink ons almal is groot fdp fans. dit was ook n baie lekker wen en fdp is my eerste keuse. maar in daai game het die pumas letterlik die helte van hul tackles gemis in die tweede helfte. ons het met elke liewe bal oor die voordeel lyn gekom.
