The Southern Hemisphere in general need to learn to scrum…
In the seniors, England pummelled the Argies, we got pummelled by Italy and to some extent Scotland, the Lions have pummelled all the touring sides at the scrums, France looked good against the All Black scrums

While it’s true that if Pollard had kicked better we would have won, our general play and attitude were crappy. Wales wanted it far more.

Anyhow going to watch some tv now and then the England/Baby Blacks game. Hope the ABs win that game. One of them will win the final as well. Wales were not that great, we really could have won this game today. We never played well but we still could have won it.

Die hele span het sleg gespeel, selfs Kolbe. Die verdediging was swak, die laaste drie het gekom nadat ons voorspelers en agterspelers vir die Wallis nr.15 gelos het om tot op ons kwartlyn te hardloop.
Van die drie skoppe wat Polla gemis het, was 1 maklik, 1 was moeilik en 1 teen die pale. Weet nie of Du Preez beter sou doen nie, ons kan maar net spekuleer.
Probleme het alles begin toe hul Pollard begin rondskuif het, moes hom laat begin het op 10, of as reserwe losskakel gebruik het, hy is nie ‘n senter nie.

Bokkies problems start up front, not enough grunt there… seems like there is no guts and passion form this lot of the TV generation.
Scrums were woeful, breakdown work was not good enough… then it just filters through all the way down the line to No 15.
The TEAM is to blame, not the individual.
But once again, seems like the Northern Hemisphere sides have shored up their scrums and breakdown play considerably, even at this Junior level…

One of my observations of South Africa at the moment is that we’ve lost our Man Grunt. We’ve become a bunch of softies. We are being dominated by the girls up north, and it’s not looking good. Gone are the days when all and sundry feared the ‘Hardmen from Africa’. We’ve always played with brawn and not brains – in the last games, both junior and senior, that has been proved.
Now we have no brawn!
Perhaps we DO need a Kamp Staldraad or two. It didn’t do us any harm when we were in the army! Seriously, though, we really need to claim our grunt back. We’re at risk of becoming the first man-bitches in the game of world rugby.
