The Springbok side to face the All Blacks at FNB Stadium (Soccer City) on Saturday, has been announced.

The same side which played the Wallabies has been selected, with only Coenie Oosthuizen coming in on the bench in place of Pat Cilliers.

Due reward was given to the side who played so well against the Wallabies, by keeping the entire squad in tact.

Springbok team: 15 Zane Kirchner, 14 Bryan Habana, 13 Jaco Taute, 12 Jean de Villiers (Captain), 11 Francois Hougaard, 10 Johan Goosen, 9 Ruan Pienaar, 8 Duane Vermeulen, 7 Willem Alberts, 6 Francois Louw, 5 Andries Bekker, 4 Eben Etzebeth, 3 Jannie du Plessis, 2 Adriaan Strauss, 1 Tendai ‘Beast’ Mtawarira

Replacements: 16 Tiaan Liebenberg, 17 Coenie Oosthuizen, 18 Flip van der Merwe, 19 Marcell Coetzee, 20 Elton Jantjies, 21 Juan de Jongh, 22 Patrick Lambie.

The inclusion of Coenie Oosthuizen comes after he was cleared by medical staff, following him being sent to Durban for a scan on his neck, and where he was subsequently cleared to play.

It comes as no surprize that Zane Kirchner retains his starting spot and that Patrick Lambie remains on the bench after a stellar performance by Zane Kirchner and a slightly less than stellar performance by Patrick Lambie when he came on as replacement in the Loftus Test.

Totally expected…. and the Press conference is not even finished and we have the squad up here on R-T…. your progressive rugby web site!

  • 2

Hell, if this side clicks… and beats the All Blacks it will be great…. and could be the start of big things for this team.

First time in years that the run-on side is repeated as is from the week before!

    Gooooooooooo Bokke!

  • 3

Yip, totally as expected considering Fransie is injured and Coenie was initially supposed to be on the bench last week. Crusty didn’t deserve to be dropped. Bambie has been extremely unlucky to not get significant game time for about 2 months now and so his form has been totally fecked up. He may have been playing brilliant rugby by now if he had started way back then but now that’s water under the bridge and we have to go with the form guys.
Soon we should get Chillie and JPP back and then Liebenberg and JdJ can be dropped from the 22 with Hougie to the bench. Once Goose is over his injury and can take up the kicking, Hougie should replace Pienaar. If Crusty has a bad game, he can be dropped for bambie.

    @ grootblousmile:
We need desperately to beat the ABs this week. The Blacks have won 16 on the trot so far and if they win on Saturday, they could go on to set a record that would be almost impossible for the Boks to one day match. They have to be stopped on Saturday! It’s simply non-negotiable, there is too much riding on it. Get Susie if you have to 😉

  • 5

Glad to see that we now have some continuity. Not the blind faith in one player, but trusting that the combinations are now working.

  • 6

Yup, like the continuity. Feel for Lambie, but Crusty has done nothing to deserve not being in the starting line up. Awesome bench, once again. Hope they have read the riot act to Beast and Doc. Go Bokke!!!

  • 7

I’m glad you guys are positive…

Now we must hope that these guys we show so much faith in, delivers on Saturday!

  • 8

Can’t see the Boks losing on SA.

Why would Susie as a JHB resident do anything for the backstabbing SARU and it’s minnions?

  • 10

    @ Scrumdown,
Build a bridge! Your anger and bitterness is justified, we all agree that the Kings fiasco was unfair and all politically motivated.

But placing the blame squarely on the Cheetahs and Stormers is a bit selective and shortsighted. Even the Lions own franchise partners voted against them, wonder why, guess because the backsatbbing Lions management hadn’t paid them their dues for 5 years.
Nothing in politics is ever assured, not even sports politics, and the Cheetahs had to do what is best for the Cheetahs.

I feel for the Lions supporters, but they didn’t cry foul when the Lions management reneged on agreements as to allocated matches when the Cheetahs were together in the abortion called the Cats, no that was ok, what goes round comes round. And as somebody else said, the Lions management did lots to give ammunition to get shot down in flames.

That said, stop going on about traitors and backstabbers, and lets focus instead on getting the Lions back in Super Rugby.

Funny enough, the backstabbing Stormers seem to be the Lions prefered choice of destination. How ironic, they don’t seem to share your ire!

Eish man, Scrumdown does not build bridges… he builds abatior equipment….. hahaha

  • 12

    Lion4eva,

I see your web site’s Name Servers now point at M-Web’s servers… looks like you are now sorted out…

  • 13

    11 @ GBS,

Well hopefully what ever he builds will help him get over this. It’s not helping anybody. None of us had a vote, it is out of our hands, and to continually carry on about backstabbers etc is irksome.

I can understand the frustration, but it really isn’t going to get us anywhere with this approach.

  • 14

    10 @ Cheetah4eva:
No point in building bridges when some twat comes and blows it up!

The Lions management are MORE to blame in this affair than anyone, even the prats running SA Rugby. As for the Lions action CEO’s statement when he was asked about Maku, well it defies belief. Talk about the blind leading the blind.

Lions supporters have been crying out for info’ on what’s happening next year ever since the SR relegation, but the silence from the Park is, as always deafening.

The Lions supporters must be the most loyal and patient soles on the face of the earth.

FFD GLRU, WAKE UP AND SWITCH THE ALARM OFF! We need some info’.

  • 15

    14 @ Scrumdown:
They may even be patient SOULS.

  • 16

    13 @ Cheetah4eva:
So you’re of the opinion that the Lions’ supporters should just accept their fate, turn the other cheek and let bygones be bygones?

  • 17

    15 @ Scrumdown:
Soon they might just be Patients….

Eish, I feel for you guys, can’t be nice.

  • 18

    17 @ grootblousmile:
Well some of us are already mental patients!

  • 19

    @ grootblousmile:
But the real lunatics have taken over the asylum!

  • 20

    18 @ Scrumdown:
Some of you are mental patients… the rest are just mental for supporting the Lions… hehehe

  • 21

    17 @ grootblousmile:
I’ve said before, Lions don’t deserve to be in super Rugby, nor do the Cheetahs, Force or Rebels, and almost certainly not the Kings either, but until they’ve played we can’t say.

That the Lions are out is not the issue, it’s the totally inept and unprofessional way in which SARU handled the whole affair. They’re a disgrace as far as running their affairs in a professional manner is concerned.

As for “forgive and forget”, the day I found my mother in law brutally murdered in her bed in 1991 was the day I decided I don’t forgive easily, and certainly never forget.

  • 22

    16 @ Scrumdown,

Nope, just learn’t not to get too worked up over things over which I have no control. I agree with you being frustrated, but as I said, we all supported the Lions through this saga, now we can just get behind the Lions team in moral support, till they can whip the Kings back into the 1st Division where they belong.

In the meantime most Cheetahs and WP supporters woould have voted for the Lions, but we don’t have the vote.

  • 23

    20 @ grootblousmile:
Everyone’s mental to some degree or other. some just more than others.

You going to the game Saturday?

  • 24

    22 @ Cheetah4eva:
Kings are still in the 1st division of Currie Cup, and certainly won’t replace the Lions in that competition.

  • 25

    23 @ Scrumdown:
There’s nothing wrong with me, with me, with me…

    Hahaha

No, not going to the game…. will go to Loftus on Friday… and then watch the rest of the weekend on TV. Suppose I owe my family a bit of time too, rugby season is a bit heavy on my family relations.

  • 26

Decided to F Off for the weekend so may not watch any sport at all.

Going to the South Coast for a golf tour next week so also need to give the family a bit of time.

  • 27

    @ grootblousmile:
Friday night games are a real b@ll breaker. Start late but need to leave home early, get home late. eish. I hate them. Wish they’d kick them into touch.

  • 28

    27 @ Scrumdown:
Yip, will probably leave at about 15:30… need to pick up 1 item in Midrand before 17:00, then mosey on over to Loftus, via 1 client in Groenkloof… in other words, get a bit of business done on my way to Loftus.

Your plans still straight to come to your broker in the Panne… then bring me that VIP Parking Ticket?

  • 29

    28 @ grootblousmile:
Yes. I don’t work after 14h00 on Fridays (unless forced to), so even though I may be in Centurion tomorrow I’ll come through and drop your ticket at ±15h00 then sort out my insurance around the corner. Hopefully by the time I get back from my golf trip the shytsters will have paid some money into my account for the rather bent Renault!

    24 @ Scrumdown,
Lol right you are, meant kick them out of Super Rugby, and back to where they are now. Their arrogance sure irks me!
