Talented Cheetahs pivot Johan Goosen has been cleared to start and not surprisingly coach Naka Drotske has opted to start with him.
It is indicative of the talent of the lad, when a team’s fortunes are so closely linked to a single player. The Free State Cheetahs have often required the presence of a talisman to inspire confidence. More oft than not this mantle fell on the broad shoulders of Juan Smith.
That said, in a short span of time, the hopes of the Free State Cheetahs team and their supporters have come to rest on the young shoulders of Johan Goosen. To his credit, he takes the the responsibilty with aplomb. Talented players seem to always have oodles of time at their disposal, and the same applies to Johan Goosen. He just looks the part and his perfomances bely his age of only 20.
