Was a nice quick 1st wicket for the Proteas… Strauss out for a duck, from 4 balls… off the bowling of Morkel

  • 2

Most exciting thing that may happen here today is the possibility of bad light bringing forward close of play. Nothing else to write home about, thats for sure!

  • 3

    jfk @ 2
    lol

  • 4

SA A is doing well. Batting nicely at a good rate.

  • 5

England 148 / 1 after 50 overs… dull stuff, to say the least

  • 6

Close of play England 267/3 with Cook well set not out on 114 and Bell on 10 not out. Proteas need to take lots of wickets in first session tomorrow else chances of winning this test could slip away with plenty of batting still to come for England.

Hello Spoony and GBS doesn’t look like its been a good day at the cricket for us

  • 8

I was searching for the cricket on TV. For a moment I though Pakistan A was playing when I saw this guy throw pies then I notice its a SA spinner! I thought we have given up on that idea of spin

  • 9

Gbs, Thanks for this crici thread boeta.

Well we need to come out and take wickets early otherwise England gonna get a massive score here.

  • 10

It seems the poms have learn’t from history. Don’t play your opening game at Lords, where the Proteas seem to go up a level, play it at the dump – whoops, I mean Oval, where historically the Protea’s crash and burn with alarming regularity. The boys looked decidedly average yesterday, and the bowling looked by and large pretty ineffectual. Agree with Spoony Tahir = Pieshop at the moment. With a pitch offering very little, the fast bowlers struggled, and it seems that the poms plan was simply to treasure their wicket come what may, only offering shots when the ball just sat up and said “hit me” – an ultra conservative and slow approach, but one that that will certainly almost guarantee them a draw at the very least, unless we come out and take some early wickets.

I would love to see Morne lose his temper, I think that ball may do a thing or two then! Also disappointed with Philander a bit, having been playing a fair amount of county cricket in England, thought he may have done a bit better.

All in all though, a very slow and tedious days play yesterday, and one which will hopefully show the boys that a bit more controlled aggression is required today, a bit more accuracy, less overstepping is needed on day 2, and hopefully a pitch that will start to offer a bit of help!

    Go Protea’s

Rain delaying the start of Day 2

Day 2’s play finally under way!

  • 13

    @ Just For Kicks:
So Dale is playing flyhalf for the Bulls tomorrow?

  • 14

@ Spooony:Wanted to say, yes, with his direction, but he has come back a bit this morning and taken a couple of jaffa’s.

  • 15

    england all out for 385.
stange thing is i wouldve taken that at close yesterday … but today, well after our performance this morning i feel that they maybe got about 40-50 runs too much!!

  • 16

    England all out for 385.

Now the Proteas must’nt fark it up…. eish

  • 17

Sorry, GBS, you must be asleep, couldn’t wait any longer to update! Much better day by the Proteas so far. Steyn, Morkel and Philander bowled a much better line and length, and later as the clouds built up the ball began to deviate a bit. The poms were certainly guilty of throwing away a couple of stumps, but still a good effort by the boys.

The SA openers are going to have to be on song, because the pom bowlers are going to exploit the weather conditions and make it very difficult for Smith and co.

  • 18

    #15
so england added 118/7 today … much much better performance from our bowlers today … think we missed a few chances to get england out much much cheaper though

  • 19

    and we’re off again!!

  • 20

nearly had a heart attack … switched over to the cricket, saw a lot englanders running in the same direction, thought a wicket had tumbled … realised a run was taken and that they (the england players) were only changing sides because of the left/right hand opening combination!! (phew)

  • 21

Alviro undone by an in-swinger. Just as I thought, that ball is certainly swinging for Anderson

  • 22

    SA 1/1
    alviro gone without scoring!!

  • 23

Damn was worried one of our openers would go early.

  • 24

2-1 don’t look very good for now… Eishh! We could not have gotten a worse start.

Amla and Smith had to focus here.

  • 25

    24 @ Puma:
    had = have

  • 26

    pums
yes, the england bowlers bowling much better than we had with the 1st new ball … will have to see them off though. gonna be a tough session for our batsmen

  • 27

    26 @ ashley:
Howzit Ash, How you bud? Hope well.

Yeah we just have to dig deep here and hope we don’t lose another wicket.

  • 28

Farkit… as I feared, we lose a cheap wicket very early on…

  • 29

    Guys,

Have a look at the Supa Quick Advert on the right… what do you think?

  • 30

@ grootblousmile:Nice, hope you’re making a mint – or at least filling up the WC kitty!
