It is alleged that Tuks and Shimlaswere fielding players who were not registered as varsity students, while falling short of the required 16 student players, and have been accused of breaking the Varsity Cup rules by fielding ineligible players.
Eye Witness News reported on Monday that the two teams may be cheating according to a source which claimed auditing firm Deloitte backed the findings. Tuks have already qualified for the semi-finals of the Varsity Cup and were second on the log going into the final round of league matches, while Shimas were fifth and had no chance of reaching the play-offs.
EWN said that NMMU were also under suspicion but have been cleared of any wrongdoing. A further three teams are under suspicion in the Varsity Shield.
According to EWN, a memorandum from Varsity Cup CEO Duitser Bosman was circulated to all 13-member varsities to inform them of the investigation. Bosman said he could not comment on the matter as yet.

Yeah I know man, certainly share your sentiments about some journalists, laziness is one of the traits I feel comes to mind for many of them they have their mind made up about what story they want to write and don’t bother getting all the facts and in some cases can’t even get facts (things that have actually happened) correct and some are such simpletons to them things are either black or white they don’t seem to understand the concept of grey areas. I’m sure you are aware of all the investigations going on here with some news organizations a lot of what they are alledged to have done and some have already paid big compensation to their victims is horrible HUGE invasions of privacy. But am balanced and must also add I have a lot of time for good investigative journalists who sometimes have to put themselves at big risk to expose bad things in society. One guy I really enjoyed was Charl Pauws son Jaques thought he did great stuff, is he still around the media scene?

Don’t know him, only really mix with the Sports Journo’s and often with the Music / Gossip Journo’s at music functions.
Although Handbriekie works for the papers, she is at Advertisement side… and there is a huge battle between them and the Journo’s, one group thinking they are better than the other.
…. all I know is that the Advertisement side is what generates most of the paper’s income…. without Ads, the paper would stop in weeks!

Following on from Bullscots journo observation, I was amazed to see one journo arrive with his story already written, he just changed a few points throughou the game, and posted as the final whistle blew – hows that for journalism!!!!
