32 Responses to Super Rugby: Teams as they are announced for Week 2

  • 1

That is a very imposing Bulls team.

  • 2

    1 @ Loosehead:
Basically the same as last weekend, just a straight swap between Sadie and Wynand Meisiekind.

Going to be tough though, I expect the Staat to be strong!

  • 3

    2@ grootblousmile:
TBH I expect the States to get a klap after losing to the Lions last week. [Not that I would ever admit to that]

  • 4

    Cheetahs side has been added!

  • 5

Stormers – 15 Joe Pietersen, 14 Gio Aplon, 13 Juan de Jongh, 12 Jean de Villiers (c), 11 Bryan Habana, 10 Gary van Aswegen, 9 Dewaldt Duvenage, 8 Nick Koster, 7 Duane Vermeulen, 6 Siya Kolisi, 5 Andries Bekker, 4 Eben Etzebeth, 3 Brok Harris, 2 Tiaan Liebenberg, 1 Steven Kitshoff.
Subs: 16 Scarra Ntubeni, 17 Frans Malherbe, 18 De Kock Steenkamp, 19 Nizaam Carr, 20 Louis Schrueder, 21 Peter Grant, 22 Gerhard van den Heever.

  • 6

    5 @ Loosehead:
Stormers side was added, even as you made your comment

  • 7

Peter Grant on the bench – the man arrives on Wednesday, no time wasted. What does it say for the other f/halves? AC obviously has no confidence in his young guns at all!

  • 8

    7 @ Just For Kicks:
I personally think the Greek, Demetri Catrakilis, would have been a better option at flyhalf… even above Grant… or should I say, specially above Grant!

  • 9

    Hurricanes side added

  • 10

So, Habana starting back on the wing now that Juan de Jong back from injury, and vdHeever drops onto bench. I’m guessing that when vdH comes on, Habs will take over from de Jong.
8@ grootblousmile:Catrakilis played for WP last Saturday, and looked decidedly average. Burton Francis certainly looked better than van Aswegen when he came on. Interesting times.

  • 11

Hate saying it but The Bulls tight 5 is power and the best in SA at the moment ???

  • 12

Any idea what’s happened to Ross Cronje and Michael Rhodes ???

  • 13

    12@ DBT:
At the press conference before the Cheetahs game JM stated that Rhodes was still a way off the required fitness levels.

    Cronje must still prove himself.

Obviously Bondesio is JM’s first choice, but the question is whether or not Cronje is better than Tian Meyer.

  • 14

    11 & 12 @ DBT:
    Welcome to Rugby-Talk.

  • 15

    @ DBT:
    Hi newby!

Tell us a bit about yourself. If you support the Bulls or Stormers, make it short! Wink

  • 16

Only the Highlanders and the Sharks sides still outstanding!

  • 17

    7@ grootblousmile:
Don’t be too surprised if you see the young Greek in a blue Western Force shirt in the future.

I heard he has had a big fall out with AC and is talking to people across the pond.

AC accused him of not following the game plan in pre-season friendlies, but he was being told what to do by senior players in the side.

AC wouldn’t listen and dropped him. Now there is a chance he may be lost to SA Rugby. (or so the grapevine tells me)

  • 19

Sharks team also now up… just the freegin Highlanders who are last again, like last week, to announce their side.

  • 20

    Rebels vs Waratahs – Waratahs
    Lions vs Hurricanes – Lions
    Highlanders vs Crusaders – Crusaders
    Reds vs Force – Reds
    Cheetahs vs Bulls – Bulls
    Stormers vs Sharks – Stormers

    You agree?

  • 26

@ grootblousmile:Same for me, surprised you’ve gone for the Stormers – thought I had was ‘Norman no mates’ this year!

  • 27

    26 @ Just For Kicks:
Just think that the Sharks loosies are a huge concern for them… and with Rocket Seat (Ross Skeate) starting for the Sharks PLUS Meyer Bosman at centre…. simply HAD TO go for a Stormers win, at home.

  • 28

OK… time to hit the bed… hard!

Fark, I’ve been sleeping badly lately…. eishhhhh

  • 29

I’m pulling a midnighter, still pressing grapes. Can someone just bring me a beer!

  • 30

    @ Just For Kicks:
I will bring you a local speciality….Hook Norton Bitter!
Real mens beer, not the gassy freezing cold stuff!
    🙂
