The Golden Lions Rugby Union announced the MTN Lions team to play in their second match of the 2012 Vodacom Super Rugby competition against the Hurricanes on Friday, 2 March 2012 at a press conference this afternoon.

Following their 27 – 25 victory over the Toyota Cheetahs this past weekend, the coaching staff and team has learnt many lessons and are spending the week correcting things they were not 100% happy with in the Cheetahs match.

The coaches have made three changes to the starting line up – Michael Killian replaces James Kamana following a knock to the head during the Cheetahs match and Stephan Greeff will make his debut for the MTN Lions to replace Wikus van Heerden who has been ruled out or three weeks due to a concussion. In a tactical change, Cobus Grobbelaar has been moved to the bench while Warren Whiteley will start at Number 8, Joshua Strauss at Right Flanker and Derick Minnie at Left Flanker.

Good to see Jantjies at the fly half berth again, not Butch, that’ll give him even more confidence

I think we will see an improved performance from all the players.Hope Bondisio clears the rucks quicker, especially on attack. We also need to realise Visagie hasn’t played top flight rugby for while, as he was completing his studies last year.

If Visagie comes to the party on Friday night, this side could give the Hurricanes a decent whallop.

Warren whitely really injected a degree of go forward when he came on last week.

He looks clumsy, but is deceptively fast, and offers another line out option. Providing of course the ball is thrown in half decent.
