Stormers coach Allister Coetzee has hinted at using the services of their former Springbok scrumhalf Bolla Conradie in the Super Rugby tournament.

Sport24

Sport24 reported at the end of last year that Conradie was in the Stormers’ pre-season plans but most did not expect the 33-year-old to make the final cut for the tournament proper.

Dewaldt Duvenage is the hot favourite to start at No 9, with Nick Groom and Louis Schreuder seemingly next in the pecking order.

However, it seems as though Conradie has impressed Coetzee thus far in their pre-season preparations and he could be used ahead of Groom and/or Schreuder.

Conradie’s 223 first class appearances may give him the nod over the youngsters Groom and Schreuder, who have a combined first class tally of only 43.

“We have to develop the young guys, but pressure situations could develop where experience can help a lot,” Coetzee told Die Burger newspaper.

“Bolla had a good season last year at Boland. If he meets our fitness standards and his form is good, he will get the opportunity to play for the Stormers.”

Conradie last played for the Stormers against the Reds at Newlands in 2009. He has captained Boland the last two seasons after falling out of favour at Western Province. The Stormers are currently in Hermanus on a pre-season camp.

    Oh boy, oh boy!

Stormers have totally regressed to the same state as 3 seasons ago, in the space of barely 3 months.

What the hell is happening in Slaapstad, really? This, by the way is genuine concern, they are going totally bonkers, as if determined and absolutely planning to self-destruct.

I read Morné Pissmier as saying that WPRU / Stormers is just waiting to implode dramatically. There is something so seriously inherently wrong at WP Rugby Union, the rats are all leaving the ship, whilst only kak like Bolla seem to be interested to join the sinking ship.

Why the player drain, are the players so unhappy and distressed and the messages from the top down so skew and self-serving?

2@ grootblousmile:We’re just trying to make it easier for the Southern Spears to enter the fray.

Seriously though, there cannot be as many players leaving, Rassie leaving, and dumb decisions without something major being wrong!

Every News Article on the wires in the last number of months has been bad news or bad decisions or regressive behaviour, by WPRU.

4@ grootblousmile:Very true, and we are so far in the sh1t, in my book, that there is no longer anything left to be serious about. We have hit rock bottom, and once the prats at the top topple, then the only way is up. I refuse point blank to pay for a ticket, and go to the games at Newlands until this debacle is over. There are many others like me, but not enough yet are talking with their feet, but the undercurrents are there. When we have stadiums looking like the Ellis Park of a couple of years ago – empty – then the people will take note, but until that happens we stay in the quagmire.

    5 @ Just For Kicks:
You won’t have to pay for tickets, you can forthwith go sit in the Press Box at Newlands, on behalf of Rugby-Talk…. go to every Press Conference, talk to the players and coaches.

Go to Springbok matches on behalf of Rugby-Talk and enjoy the same priveliges as at WP & Stormers games.

You are now in a new league, you are a Media Person too.

6@ grootblousmile:Do you think there’ll be anyone left to talk to?

    7 @ Just For Kicks:
If not, just shut the doors and switch the lights off…. hehehe

8@ grootblousmile:…or blow the candles out, at this rate there’ll be no money in the coffers to pay the electricity bill!
