    lol lol lol

Within the ranks of the Australian cricket side, however, Bradman wasn’t always as popular with his team-mates as he was with the public. Charles Williams says that one of the reasons for this, that bubbled away under the surface, was the ectarian divide in the team, the division between Catholics and Protestants that was potent in Australian society and politics throughout the first half of the 20th century.

Drinks – I think the boys need something stronger than energade

Sl are now 325 runs ahead, and still have some competent batsmen in the hut, so their batting innings is far from over. With 2 days left, and a good weather forecast, the SL’s would do well to bat as long as possible, amass a good total, and give themselves plenty of time to bowl out the chokers

  • 159

‘Chokers just going through the motions now, heads are down Biffs chopping and changing bowlers with alarming regularity, and all the while the SL’s just go about their business and increase the overall lead, just playing into the gaps – of which there are many, with Biff coming up with some strange positions – and belting the odd bad ball for 4. Sangakara now into the 80’s, seeing the ball like a watermelon now, after being dropped on 2.

sri lanka now 356 runs ahead
cant see us coming back from this

  • 161

Sri Lanka making this batting wicket looking like it actually is…. meak and mild, and perfectly good for batting on it.

These Ama-chokers cannot string 2 decent games together…. they make me so angry!

And that’s the thing, who do you blame?

The bowlers are doing OK in terms of what this wicket actually is, it is therefore the freegin batsmen who let the Ama-chokers down!

What to do then… get rid of the batting stragglers, I say… with Biff leading the way out, followed by Rudolph & Prince…. and Kallis getting a moerrrrrse warning that he’s next!

The other thing is the missed catches and no-ball wicket chances so far this Test by the Ama-chokers…. how many wickets does that translate into? I’ve counted 2 no-ball wickets and 3 or 4 catches not taken… that is serious shit!

Kallis to Sangakkara, FOUR, he’s slapping them, Overjoy
not literally thankfully, short of a length and sits up nicely for Sangakkara to swat that over extra cover, Tahir had no chance cutting that off

161@ grootblousmile:All that ranting, and you haven’t seen most of the match – I’d hate to hear your thoughts if you had watched the whole thing!!!!

But have to agree, what is it with SA teams and consistency? It drives me mad too. Theres no urgency in the p[layers, especially the older more established ones. Yup, drop ’em, and let them earn their places back. I know its difficult to chop and change players too often, and you want to give the players a chance to play themselves into a team, but just look at what the 2 debutants have done and how hungry they are. Every player needs to have that hunger, and they don’t. Hell, we don’t even have a Captain who can razz a fading team up.

  • 167

Sangakara on 99, two great 4’s

  • 168

Thats it, Sangakkara goes to 100 – 101 from 161 balls. Well done

  • 169

    165 @ Ashley:
Ek het gegroet, vanoggend al…. maar lykmy nie jy lees lekker nie!

    164 @ Just For Kicks:
Not so much ranting, just making an obvious statement, in my opinion. The fact that the Ama-chokers cannot string 2 wins together is very worrying, eiter there is no killer instinct and no passion after an easy win in the 1st Test OR WORSE, there is match fixing going on and the Proteas not wanting to white-wash the Sri Lankans, so that there is interest in the last Test.

Whichever, I shudder to think of the consequences.

    sri lanka’s test thus far
the only highlight for sa has been the 7/81 on debut by de lange. other than that, one loooooooooong frustrating test!!

  • 178

Tea. Day 3 SL 207/5. Well not much to say really except for Sangakkara’s brilliant hundred. He’s been out of form in his 3 previous knocks, and had Boucher taken the catch – or better still left it to Biff, as it was right in front of his nose would have ended this match with a princely sum of 2 runs – equalling the tally from the first test. But he rode his luck, played himself back into form and went on to score a patient and confident ton. De Lange has been there and there about, every now and then dropping one short, upon which the SL’s duly pounced upon. Morkel has been steady, Steyn is elsewhere at the moment, Kallis is just the donkey at the moment, and Tahir is tight for one over, and then gets punished in the next. Summing up – good, solid cricket by the touring team, and mashed potato by the home unit.

Don Bradman telling the story of the lost ring

“Well it’s a bit of a mystery Yes, I brought her a nice engagement ring..single diamond, with a couple of diamonds each side, and one day she reported to me that she couldn’t find it. And so we racked our brains and searched everywhere, but we couldn’t find it. So we finally came to the conclusion that she’d taken it off while preparing some vegetables, and it had been thrown out. And that was the end of it and we couldn’t find it anywhere..this went on for about 20 years, and then one day I was scratching around in the garden, up in the backyard, and I suddenly saw something glint in the sunlight. I turned it over, and it was a ring. I picked this ring up, and it looked like one of the rings the kids get at the show. I took it inside and said to my wife “Do you recognize this, did one of the kids get it in a showbag or something like that?” She took one look and said “Good gracious, that’s my ngagement ring”. It turns out it had been thrown out in the rubbish, it had gone through the incinerator, it had gone through the vegetable garden, and I accidently scratched it up on a gravel path. So we got it restored and she wears it today, absolutely beautiful. A miracle.”
