In news just in, Ex Bulls and Lions flyhalf, Burton Francis, is set to sign for the Stormers

Francis, who is out of contract with the Lions, is reportedly going to be one of the many back-up fly halves to Peter Grant who will only be joining the Stormers after his stint in Japan.  After having almost all of their 10’s injured in the 2011 Super Rugby season the Stormers now boast Peter Grant, Burton Francis, Kurt Coleman, Gary Van Aswegen, Elgar Watts and Dimetri Catrikilis as their flyhalves.

Although Francis did some good things at the Lions, he has been usurped by Elton Jantjies and Butch James. He would also not have been that pleased to hear of the signing of the Cronje brothers.

only 9 more FH’s needed, and we will be able to fill an entire team of flyhalves – Ha, our cunning new plan for the new rugby campaign has been revealed, look and learn boys, look and learn!

  • 2

Can he scrum…. I’m just wondering because the Stormers actually need props, not more flyhalves…

  • 3

With the ball in the air permanently, there’ll be no scrums. Thus no need for props. In turn food budget can be cut, and therefore, more money can be put aside to pay Habana that massive bonus that he will surely deserve at the end of the season

This might be your backline…. hehehe

    9. Dewaldt Duvenage
    10. Peter Grant
    11. Demetri Catrakilis
    12. Burton Francis
    13. Adi Jacobs
    14. Kurt Coleman
    15. Gary van Aswegen

ALL, including Adi, have played flyhalf in their playing days….

    Bwahahahahahaha

  • 5

Joe Pietersen can be used at flyhalf too…. hahahaha, hiehiehie

O flok, ek lag nou lekker!

  • 6

Imagine the fight between Stormers players when a penalty is awarded… the one who grabs the ball first kicks for goal….

@ grootblousmile:I think you’re just being nasty now, if we were still at school, I’d report you for psychological bullying!

On the serious side, we have a plethera of flyhalves in SA.

Lions sit with 2 Springboks (Jantjies & Butch)
Bulls sit with possibly 2 Springboks if Hougaard comes back (Morné Steyn & Derick Hougaard) PLUS Louis Fouché & Lionel Cronje
Sharks have 1 Springbok (Lambie) and one Frog (Frederic Michalak) PLUS Jacques-Louis Potgieter
Cheetahs have the talented Johan Goosen & Sias Ebersohn
Stormers have 1 Springbok… or is he just a ‘Takbok’ (Peter Grant) plus the other 5

So, the Stormers are still thinnest of the SA Franchises at flyhalf….. hehehe

@ grootblousmile:Perhaps Rassie knows something we don’t (he is a very astute fellow), and he has seen un upcoming rule change that allows 5 flyhalves at flyhalf at the same time, thus making us 5 times better at that position. Ha, beat that

Personally I think Rassie was snarfing Coke-ka-Lola mixed with beautiful Tik when he contracted for the season… the whole time!

What astute signings has he really made?

Shadow (Gerhard van den Heever)? Is he better than what JJ Engelbrecht is, who went to the Bulls
Deon Carstens? Is he really going to add value to the Stormers front row… yet they lost CJ van der Linde
Joe Pietersen? He hardly took to the field in France and sat on the bench mostly. He was good before he left the Stormers though.

Who else is there… young Eben Etsebeth at Lock has huge potential, so too Kolisi.

Steven Kitskos…. errr I beg your parden Kitshoff… is a kaaaak prop, probably because he is still so very young.

Stormers lost Francois Louw and now did not offer Pieter Louw a contract….

    btw
cant we just skip the superrugby season and go straight to the incoming tests
    and
then skip the cc and go to the eoy tour?

  • 15

@ Ashley:Please, no, it would Rassie and Toetie all that time to find more rubbish discards! Keep them busy, I say!

    😀
am i the only one that think theres no contingency plan at the stormers/wp? just look at the all the flyhalves we went through in a short time! 1st lionel cronje is seen as the answer at flyhalf, then its coleman, now burton and watts are added … what the f*ck is going on? then theres van aswegen who played quite well at 10 last year before getting injured?
jeez!! either theres no plan or they’re hiding it very well!! haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!! Shout

    Bob Marley should have sung…

  • 21

@ grootblousmile:I am sure they are all nice and decent fellows, and that is the reason we keep signing up wannabe’s/hasbeen’s, but thats not going to win us a cup

    21 @ Just For Kicks:
Don’t worry, one of these days you might have a grandpa, father and son all playing for the Stormers at the same time.

About the Golden Oldies though… the Sharks… damn they’ve got serious shit at sentre now.

Meyer Bosman & Marius Joubert, their first choice pairing….. einaaaaaa pyn!
