The MTN Golden Lions have retained the same run on side that beat DHL Western Province last Saturday, to face the Sharks this coming Saturday.

The only possible change will happen on the bench where prop Jacobie Adriaanse has been bracketed with JC Janse Van Rensburg, who suffered a hamstring injury against the Sharks in the MTN Golden Lions final pool match of the season.. Coach John Mitchell will wait till just before the match to see if JC will be able to play. If JC passes this late fitness test he will replace Adriaanse, who has been a valuable sub for the Lions during the season.

3 Lions players played in the last Currie Cup final for the Lions in 2007. They are Cobus Grobbelaar, Franco Van Der Merwe and JC Janse van Rensburg. The Lions will not be short of players that have experienced finals before, in Butch James, Wickus Van Heerden, and CJ Van der Linde, all members of the 2007 Springbok World Cup Winning Squad. Alwyn Hollenbach faced the Lions in the Currie Cup final in 2007, while hooker Bandise Maku als played for the Blue Bulls in their 2009 Currie Cup final.

More than 60 000 fands will watch the final at Coca Cola Park.

The MTN Golden Lions team to play the Sharks (kick-off 5:30pm) is:
15 Jaco Taute, 14 Deon van Rensburg, 13 Doppies la Grange, 12 Alwyn Hollenbach, 11 Michael Killian, 10 Elton Jantjies, 9 Michael Bondesio, 8 Joshua Strauss (capt.), 7. Michael Rhodes, 6. Derick Minnie, 5 Franco van der Merwe, 4 Wikus van Heerden, 3 Patric Cilliers, 2 Bandise Maku, 1 CJ van der Linde.

I think that the Lions will win this game.

    @ Loosehead:
The 1 team I was really worried about meeting in the knock-outs was the FS.

Too much raw talent in the backs, and a VERY competent pack.

    Still, Guppies it is.

I feel for the Cheetahs. But I am glad the Lions are facing the Sharks. This will be a good way to end the season, by beating the same team that hammered us 2 weeks ago.

Just seen this on 365 “The email contained a link to a YouTube clip of replacement No.10 Stephen Donald’s match-winning penalty in Sunday’s Rugby World Cup Final – a match New Zealand won 8-7 over France to be crowned world champions.

This clip, which at the time of writing had well over 250,000 hits, seems to suggest that Donald’s penalty just drifted to the right of the uprights and was, in fact, not over.”

This has to have been one of the most controversial WC’s ever!

    @ Just For Kicks:
Just more confirmation of the need to increase the role of technology. I think all scores should automatically be confirmed with the tv ref. If the video is inconclusive, the original decision should stand. The tv ref should have the same right as the assistant refs to draw the referee’s attention to incidents on the field.

    4@ Just For Kicks:
After your post I watched with interest when the highlights were shown on DSTV again las night.

I paused the PVR and watched it 4 or 5 times in super slow motion, and it DEFINETLY looks like it missed by quit a margin, even though it was curling in with a big draw.

Can’t understand how the ref’ and both assistant ref’s awarded it.
