News from the Bok camp in New Zealand is that fullback Gio Aplon is injured and will not play on the weekend.
It is believed that Morne Steyn will fill in at fullback and the exciting Patrick Lambie will start at flyhalf.
Heinrich Brussouw has not recovered enough to play and will not be included in the starting 22. One wonders why Brussouw even went on tour?
Flip Van Der Merwe is set to return today and has been replaced by French based lock Gerhard Mostert.

Johannesburg – Jonathan Kaplan, the world’s most experienced Test referee, had to withdraw from Saturday’s Currie Cup match between the Blue Bulls and the Free Sate Cheetahs after being involved in a scooter accident.
Kaplan received 30 stitches to his leg after he drove into a taxi’s door – which opened up unexpectedly in front of him – in Cape Town on Friday.
Kaplan said that his injuries are not serious.
South African refereeing boss, Andre Watson, said he does not expect the injuries to stop Kaplan from representing South Africa at the Rugby World Cup later this year.

IF ok, lets repeat …. IF the early indications are correct (labie 10, morné 15) it may seem like the selectors/coaches have lost faith in morné’s ability at 10 … and i agree with loosehead (sies nou moet ek my hanne gaan was, lol) … you can almost choose anyone at fullback
as long as

Amid all of this angst concerning the Boks performance I have to ask the following:
When the Wallabies (and the Waratahs in S15) play poorly, the coaches and players are made to answer PUBLICLY on television to the supporters.
Why does this never happen in SA?
We wrap these highly paid people up against all criticism and, IMO even worse, our television “experts” are either too sh1t scared or are ordered not to ask questions that are too direct or may offend, and if the answer is unacceptable to just accept the BS that is spouted forth.
As the bums that sit on the seats, we shouldn’t accept this contempt with which we are treated.
As much as I dislike soccer, in the UK, when a bunch of supporters think the coach is a twat, they make their feelings known, and invariably the offending person is soon in the line to buy the newspaper with the situations vacant column in it.
We may rant and rave on sites like this, but invariably people like Hoskens and Dick Muir don’t give a continental F what we think, and why should they. They know they’re safe in their little kingdoms, and are untouchable.
Ashley made the very valid point that whenever the Boks have been under pressure for a sh1t performance they’ve invariably always pulled a good game out of the hat. So therefore I have to as, why the fukc should it be allowed to get to that point in the first place.
John Smit (or whoever is captain) shouldn’t have to get on bended knee at the Captain’s run and implore his players for a good performance because the public are pissed off. (I’m damned sure the likes of Div, Tricky and Gary Glitter don’t give a toss what the public think, and so wouldn’t get on bended knee to the players!)
Enough of my soap box.

Did Jake finally got a ear that listens to him there in Australia. He has a lot to say now, pileling the presure on Peter de Villiers. Or is he trying to impress the Aussies so that they accept him over there? He said a lot, latest he is complaining about the halfback changes.
Former Springbok coach Jake White says the biggest problem in the Springbok backline is the constant change occurring at scrumhalf and flyhalf.
White – who has recently been appointed as new coach of the Brumbies – feels that Springbok coach Peter de Villers changes his halfback pairing too often.
White believes the Boks could take a leaf out of the books of their Australian and New Zealand counterparts by sticking with the same combination at 9 and 10.
