Following a knee injury in the MTN Lions vs. Brumbies match last Saturday, Kevin Buys is returning to South Africa and Ross Geldenhuys will fly out tonight (17 May 2011) to join the team tomorrow.
Strange that Butch is preferred over Jantjies… and I’m almost tempted to say that Mitchell might be making a mistake bringing Doppies back after the 2 centers who played the Brumbies really stood up and defended well in unison…
I would have left Josh Strauss as captain as well as reward for last week’s win.

Not only as reward.
He led from the front, was decisive in his decision making, was not afraid to chat to the ref’ and when he did, he did so with a confident and relaxed manner.
In fact I would go so far as to say that IMO he was (albeit only on the evidence of 1 game) the best Captain the Lions have had in the last 3 years.
As for Butch, well who knows what goes on in the minds of the collective management at a team like the Lions.

Yip, he was calm and collected and handled the ref well.
Maybe Butch will play 1st half and Jantjies will come on for 2nd, or Doppies will play 1 half, and Butch shift to 12, and Jantjies replaces Doppies.
