I was browsing for rugby news, and nearly swallowed my coffee cup… as I read on Sport24… then I just laughed.
Luke Watson was presented to the media in Cape Town by Highbury Safika Media (HSM – publishers of SA Rugby magazine and www.keo.co.za amongst others).
HSM, at the same function, confirmed their entry into the sports management market with their signing of the fiery Springbok, Bath and EP Kings loose forward.
Questioned on any potential conflict of interest given that Watson just happens to be the poster and cover model for this month’s issue of SA Rugby magazine, HSM CEO Kevin Ferguson was confident in the belief that his editorial teams would pick covers and features based on servicing readers rather than any other potentially nefarious reasons.
Backing up their CEO were Commercial Director, and the man who will run the player management side of the business, Shane Keohane, brother to HSM Chief Operating Officer, Mark Keohane, who were both at pains to stress that the two sides of the business would be kept very separate.
“As a player I wanted to be aligned with a vibrant company who share my enthusiasm for Eastern Province and South African rugby, and who also believe there is a different way to manage the careers of players,” said Watson.
Watson arrives in Port Elizabeth at the weekend and will represent the Kings in the guise of the South African Kings in June’s IRB sanctioned Emerging Nations tournament to be hosted by Romania. The Kings replace the Emerging Springboks as South Africa’s tournament representative.
I guess objectivity must now be taken with even less than a pinch of salt…
Guess Voldy’s lot will read about Watson ad nauseum, pun intended, from now onwards!

I foresee some problems in the management of the people in Comment No 2…
1. Snorrie would revert to critisizing referees, constantly… and SuperBul would start to speak funny.
2. Heinrich Brussow would shout VRYYYYYYYSTAAAAAAAAT when he forages for the ball… and Smallies, Loosehead & Cheetah4eva would get hamstring injury problems by the dozens.
3. Lambie would develop kak knees quickly…. and Sharkie_Fornever & Puma would kick extremely kak to goal, looking through their curly mop of hair.
4. Mossie would develop a drinking habit, seconds after 17:00 evey day… and Asbakkie would dispute his contract of employment with the Toner Company.
5. Sonny Bill Williams would just appear every now and then on the field, then take a gap and disapear again… and Tight Head would get tattoos all over his body.
6. Heyneke Meyer would develop an unhealthy sweet tooth… and I would have a 5-year plan for everything.

Maybe the English food have settled his weak stomach.
I wonder if his verbal confirmation of commitment to the Kings is because no other Super Franchise would want him.
After having said that the Springbok jersey makes him want to puke, is not something that can be excused away by saying you now had 18 months to have an introspective look at yourself and have made changes.

Hy is ‘n skaam ou, kyk mens nie maklik in die oë nie. Ek het daarom nuwe insig in sy vermoë om Kaptein te wees van ‘n span. Die manne hou van hom, hy is populêr om by te gaan kuier, maar ek dink hy is dalk effe te veel in homself ingekruip om ‘n uitstekende kaptein en sterk uitgesproke leier te wees.
Dit lyk of hy besig is om sy spelpeil stadig maar seker op te trek, maar volgens my is hy nog nie naby so dinamies as wat hy voor sy operasie laasjaar en daarvoor was nie.
Victor sal maar die skip moet stuur vir die Bulls, maar saam sal hulle almal nou moet wys die Bulls is terug om mee gereken te word.
Die Sharks het ‘n sterk pak voospelers jong, hulle agterlyn se middeveld is egter suspect en ‘n span MOET dit kan uitbuit…. weet egter nie of die Bulls daai skietgoed het om dit te vermag nie, lyk of Wynand Meisiekind besig is om te verbeter maar met Jaco Pretorius op buitesenter, is daar probleme.
Bulls onderskat of onderwaardeer balbesit en balbehoud nog te veel na my sin, en teen die top-spanne is dit die 1ste plek waar dit lol.

Victor var nie great in die lynstane nie, hy het al n’ paar lynstane op eie bal verloor wat mens nie verwag nie.
Bakkies lyk asof hy te bang is om homself te wees.
Meisiekind het selde n’ baie goeie game, en plaas valse hoop op n’ mens na n’ goeie vertoning soos saterdag
Ek stem saam Jaco Pretorius is n’ swak skakel, hy moet saam Puke Watson gaan speel.
Morne bekommer my, maar ek kan nie my vinger daarop sit nie.
Een ding wat my baie frustreer van die Bulls hierdie seisoen, en ek support maar al die SA spanne, is die feit dat veral Meisiekind en Zane nie lyk of hulle die regte dinge doen wanneer dit kom by die bal besit beskerm nie, beide van hulle distribute nie graag nie, en die Bulls verloor baie balle in die losgemaal wanneer hulle die bal verloor.
Ek persoonlik dink dat hierdie wereld beker kan nie vinning genoeg kom sodat nie net die Bulls nie maar ook die Sharks en Stormers van n’ paar ouer spelers kan ontslae raak.
Ek hou baie van stephan terblanche, maar sos jy tereg se, hulle midfield lyk nie threatening nie.
