It’s the penultimate round of Vodacom Cup league matches and while a few teams will struggle to make the quarter-finals, it’s make or break for seven provinces.

At the top of the respective logs, GWK Griquas and the Pampas XV will be aiming to maintain their status as the leading teams in the North and South Sections, but for last year’s finalists, another defeat could be costly.

The Vodacom Blue Bulls, current defending champions, travel to East London where they will be aiming for their third successive victory after four defeats when they take on the Border Bulldogs on Friday at 7:10pm.

The team from Pretoria are on 11 log points and are in joint fourth position on the North Section log with the Platinum Leopards, who are in action against the Sharks XV on Saturday at 4:45pm.

Last year’s runners-up, the Toyota Free State Cheetahs, are currently in fourth position on the South Section log, four clear of the SWD Eagles, and host the Tasol Solar Griffons in Bloemfontein on Saturday at 3pm.

GWK Griquas play the EP Kings in Port Elizabeth at 7pm on Saturday. They are currently in first place on the North Section log with 22 points and are one point clear of the MTN Golden Lions.

The Pampas XV, along with DHL Western Province the only two undefeated teams in the competition, host the Valke at the Fanie du Toit Stadium in Potchefstroom on Saturday at 3pm.

The Argentineans (27) are currently two points clear of their Cape rivals on the South Section log after six matches. DHL Western Province, who have won five and drawn one game this season, take on the Ford Pumas at DHL Newlands on Saturday at 2:40pm.

Western Province have scored the most tries during this season’s competition, with 36, as well as the most points (259) following their six matches played this season. The GWK Griquas are in second position after having scored 34 tries and 233 points.

In the other Vodacom Cup matches of the weekend, the Boland Cavaliers host the Welwitschias at the Boland Stadium in Wellington on Friday at 4pm, while the MTN Golden Lions travel to George to take on the SWD Eagles at 7pm on Friday.

@ superBul:6 – Super, You watched any of the IPL yet? Forgot it started today.

Not gonna join a SuperBru pool. Going on a 5 week holiday in 5 weeks. So won’t have the time to put in my picks.

But have always enjoyed the IPL. Even if it is a 20/20 tourney.

    @ Puma:
where are you going on holiday?

  • 9

Okay out of here. Very hectic day for me. If not up early enough for the Bulls/Saders game.

GO BULLS. Really hope Bulls win it. Gonna be a massive game. Without Carter Bulls have a good chance in kiwi land.

    Good luck Bulls.

    @ superBul:8 – Howzit Super. Thought no-one was online.

I am off to Scotland in 5 weeks time exactly to the date tonight. First going to do a cruise on the mediterranean. Never done a cruise before. Never appealed to me ever, but gonna try it. The cruise starts in Southampton. Then heads off to Portugual, Spain, France and down to Italy and back. Then we head off from there to England for 2 days then off to Scoltand for about 2 weeks. Then fly from Scotland to London for a dayb before we fly back to Sa. Looking forward to it very much. This work is hectic at the moment. Being sitting up late some nights getting somethings done. Will be great just to relax.

How you doing Super? Hope well.

@ superBul:10 – Super, I have watched the Masters almost every year that I can remember. Just this year I have not. Being so hectic busy boeta. How I blog between working is a mystery even to myself…….hahaha. No wonder I miss some posters posts while blogging. I will catch up tomorrow watching the golf Super. I watch all the majors every year. Had to be in Joburg today. Normally I fly once a week up there but never on a Friday. Just the way it worked out.

Supposed to have gone to Oz too in Feb. That was put back to this month. But just WAY to busy right now to fly there. Had to put that off for now as well. Will have to go later this year. Also had to go to Chile this month, but that too has to be put off until after my holiday. This travel is just so hectic for me….hahaha. Time to retire boeta……hahaha. I WISH!! hehe.

@ superBul:10 – Super, That is sad about Ernie. Such a great golfer, not sure how it wall went downhill for him really. He is struggling right now.

Hope he makes the cut off. Have not watched a min of the Masters. Will catch up tomorrow with it.

Super, good luck for your Bulls tomorrow. Really hope they beat Saders. Gonna be difficult, but without Carter think Bulls have a big chance.

If you have time to do your own thing , go on. I took a chance because i am going nowhere , no merit system, no chance of promotion, no further development for the last 5 years. I feel i can do better.

@ superBul:14 – Super, Not sure what you meant there boeta? I probably have missed some somethings here. Are you not still at Telkom? Think I have missed a lot. Always check RT first every morning. But there are no bloggers on line so move over to Sharksworld, then to keo. Then somehow stay on those sites. So must have missed something. We are you off to Super (work wise) seems like you are not with telkom anymore. What I am picking up here.

  • 19

    @ Puma:18 – Sorry english stupid up there……hahaha.

Where are you off to Super?

  • 20

@ superBul:17 – WELL DO IT boeta. JUST DO IT. I did and I have NEVER looked back. I have done really well. GO FOR IT. I wish you well. The best decision you have EVER made. You won’t regret it.

I really, really wish you all the best. I took a chance to work for myself Super. It was the best thing that I have ever done ever. Good luck, but you will be just fine. Exciting times lay ahead for you Super. Always be positive.

Watch Charl Schwartzel, he looks like the next big player SA will have. I was at the Sanlam Cancer tournament in 2001 when he was selected for the Eisenhower , the big amateur gurus said he is the man. I was there as the NP Representative, did not qualify

@ superBul:14 – Super, The MOST important thing is being happy boeta. That counts for almost everything in this life. Do what makes you happy. Also don’t worry too much. Once you start off on your own, you worry, but don’t it will work out. My mottoa stay relaxed, just stay positive. It will work out. It always does.

    @ Puma:
Thanks Puma, i am going for a training course or 2 next few months. I took a early retirement package, so my pension of 33 years is there, the house paid no debts, that in itself is a great feeling.

Ernie started with 6 pars in round 2, he needs at least 2 birdies to make the cut, projected at +1.

Link to scoring if you are interested.

@ superBul:23 – BRILLIANT!!! The best thing you have ever done. I say congrats boet. You won’t look back.

Plenty in my field have taken early retirement and then went on to work for themselves. Once you have the assurance of your pension funf. You can take risks and most of the time it works out fine.

Good luck my friend. You gonna be just fine.

@ superBul:15 – Thanks Super, Gonna just look at that link. Cause not at my tv right now.

Sharks play at home so you must be confident to beat the luckless Lions?

I looked around the various Rugby webs, i see that Keo is still a nest of politics. But in amongst all that there is some solid rugby thoughts. I enjoyed your conversation about all the young Shark talent.
