Matt Giteau will wait to see if he needs “something fresh” before deciding where he will play beyond the end of 2011.

According to the Rugby Heaven website, the nearly off-contract playmaker says a disappointing end to 2010 is the driving force behind his hunger for success with the Brumbies and Wallabies this year.

Giteau’s Brumbies and Australian Rugby Union contracts expire at the end of World Cup in New Zealand later this year.

Despite already being linked to cashed-up French clubs including Toulon, Giteau insists results with the Brumbies and the Wallabies will largely influence whether he takes his career abroad or decides to remain in Australia.

“I want to be heavily involved in both the new season with the Brumbies and the Wallabies because it’s a World Cup year as well,” Giteau said.

“For me, it’s about worrying about this year and seeing how my enjoyment and things like that go.

“Talk and speculation about my future doesn’t worry me.

“I’ll see if I need something fresh and wait to see how this year pans out (before I make any decisions).”

A lucrative overseas deal is likely to entice Giteau away from the Brumbies at the completion of the World Cup.

Giteau is one of 14 Brumbies off-contract at the end of the Super Rugby season and the club is already preparing for its high-profile stars to field offers from the world’s richest clubs.
