Ireland (6) 21 / Springboks (13) 23 (Final Score)

Ireland hosted the Springboks at Aviva Stadium, Landsdowne Road, Dublin at 19:30 SA Time. This is the match thread for discussion of the game. The match was broadcast live on SuperSport 1 and M-Net on TV in SA.

The Springboks forwards were monsterous and they dominated the first half and most of the set pieces.

The Irish came back strongly in the last 20 minutes and a comedy off errors by Sppringbok players nearly made the Irish comeback complete.

Well done to the Springboks though, a win I did not foresee!

3 / 0 for the Southern Hemisphere on the day.

That Impression count is only since 31 October 2009, not from the start in August…. so we have quite a bit more….

It is a moooosa milestone though.

    GBS & bdb,

SA is endowed with quality players in EVERY position. The secret is to harness and keep all of the talent, which IMO SARU cannot do.

Unfortunately the Pound ane Euro are too strong.

It burns my ass more than an extra hot Nando’s peri peri to see a Fourie making his debut for England.

Die voorspelers was ALMAL 8’s of dalk selfs naby 9’s…. hulle het die ding gedoen vandag, elke laaste ene van hulle.

    Die agterspelers was gemiddeld…

Waiting for Rondeman to arrive… with Jeagermeister and Red Bull….

304: As Genl. de Preez terug is, sal die troepe weer regkom.

South Africa then lost Steyn through injury, Patrick Lambie coming off the bench for his debut.

By the way, for those who care and all Lions amongst us, Ruan Botha 2,04m lock from the Valke Craven Week team, (Hoerskool Jeugland) has signed for the Lions from next year.

Botha played for the SA High School High Performance Team in a recent tournament against France, England, Namibia and New Zealand.

He also had offers from the Sharks, Blue Bulls, Wp and Cheetahs but chose the Lions because it was closer to home.

Vlok, I hope Manie en Kie look after him.

    @ Scrumdown:
Apologies if RT carried this already.

Hi guys, it wasn’t pretty but then it never was going to be given the weather and the patchwork Bok backline. Zane was on a hiding to none but it says a lot for the man and JdV organising ability that the Irish centres were largely anonomous on the occasions they did get the ball. Hats off to Vic and the pack who won it up front.

    Well done Bokke!!

i hope that Steyn is not badly injured

    Langggg seun, hemelbesem!

    @ bdb:
But doesn’t that show us that the team are a “family” who care about each other?

    I hope so.

Are you alright, have you got fever?

  • 317

    9: FPD, FH, RP

    10: MS, PL, EJ

    @ grootblousmile:
Next one is my Stepson. Just turned 14 (last month) already 1,78m.

  • 319

    Super, no fever…why?

  • 320

    @ bdb:

  • 322

    @ fender:
You sort of nice to Zane 😆

  • 323

312: naand fender, hoe gaan dit ?

  • 324

Fark me, the Taffy (Wales to the ignorant) Rugby strip looks like the Arsenal soccer strip.

They’ll have a Frog coach next.

  • 325

  • 326

    @ Scrumdown:
Frog, NZ, Irish, Aus, Scottish. All the same. May as well have a Paki!

  • 327

OK folks…. see you sometime, if I outlive the Jeagie Bombs…. hehe

  • 328

Super, look I thought that Kuite was on a hiding to nothing and that Snor had sold him down the river. But apart from that failure to gather near the end he was solid. I’m not saying that Kuite and Meisiekind might be the solution to the Bulls centre woes but then again…… 😉

  • 329

    @ bdb:
The BB’s will surely disagree, but I thought that Stegman was very quiet.

I thought that Smith had a good game. (But then he rarely has a BAD game IMO)

The backline, for the most part did just enough to justify their selections IMO.

    @ fender:
The fact is this boikie wants to play and with such a heart and guts he might just get better. He is not at all useless. Bulls dont have useless players.
