There is a joke doing the rounds that when sports predictions cult figure Paul the Octopus died in a German aquarium this week his parting word was “Shaaaarks”.

We were asked to put up a  “Tjarks / WP spite thread!” , wel go for it.
Come on dont hold back now Shark and WP supporters. What you say now wont make a difference in the outcome, you are not psychic are you? Go wild with the banter , this year the Bulls are not there so it is a 50/50 game this year.
But it seems the majority of Sport24 readers believe he was actually going to splutter “Shaaaarks … to botch it” before his passing unpleasantly intervened.

A poll Sport24 ran asked the very straight question: “Who’ll be crowned Currie Cup champions in Durban on Saturday?”

And as this was written, 2 618 respondents – around 54% – had rooted for Western Province, while the remaining 46% (or 2 193 people) preferred the home triumph.

Just how many neutrals voted is unfortunately not known: it might have been educative to learn, for instance, which way most Blue Bulls fans are leaning – if they still care about the competition this year.

But it’s a vote of confidence for Schalk Burger and company all the same, despite the disadvantage of having to achieve their first Cup win since 2001 in the hostile Shark Tank.

Perhaps readers were influenced by the outcomes of four previous finals between WP and the Sharks, with the blue-and-white-hoops prevailing on three occasions.

In round-robin meetings this year, the tally stands at 1-1, with the Sharks winning 27-16 in Durban and Province 33-21 in Cape Town.

The reason why more people voted for a Province win can be ascribed to Province supporters being more computer literate. Of course, this does not hide the fact that they know absolutely nothing about rugby and finals in particular.

    Go Valke!

  • 2

The team that scores the most point will win the final.

Thats basicaly all i know about rugby. 😉

At least most of the supporters at Kings Park will have their front teeth.

  • 12

    @ Loosehead:
After the game those sharks will have no teeth……

  • 13

Where the hell are the Cape Town All Blacks supporters going to drink their afternoon away on Saturday.

  • 14

I am sure that the Cape Town All Blacks supporters club will be supporting the Sharks becasue they are at least coached by a Kiwi.

The funniest thing on TV is the Sharks ads They have to advertise to keep their supporters loyal. Sharks forever, our world is black and white What kind of nancy pancy poncy shit is that?

Bulls, Lions, WP, Cheetahs….. have real suporters, no need to play little sweet nursey rhyme ads to keep them interested.

  • 16

Loosehead, I take it you’re supporting the side with the most VRYSTAAAAAAAAAAATers in, right?

  • 17

#15 Loosehead, I think you’re missing the point. Isn’t that ad designed to keep their players loyal? 😉

  • 18

@ fender:I will be supporting the WP, which means that they will more than likely get klapped.

  • 19

@ fender: How many of the Sharks supporters will be wearing their black and white [we are dynamite] undies on Saturday, only to find them a little brown after the game?

Hell, there is no real vitriol in these insults.

    PROOOOVVVINCE se moer
Province supporters better drop some acid and go and meditate on their mountain, they will need to remain calm.
I hear Susie has been employed by Province to try and upset the Sharks….pity they dont eat bootleg perlemoen.
Jasus Lalandii has always been more bland than Panulirus Homarus, just like their rugby.
WP are sweating for Saturday already and it has nothing to do with the humidity.
The only province players who could make it into a Sharks team…maybe….are Schalkie and Jean, the rest arent good enough or arent from Cape Town.
WP are used to jumping through hoops thats why they wear them.
There is a reason it is called the Currie cup, not the Bobotie cup!

    @ Loosehead:
Well the Bulls is probably true, but for the rest, thats why their stadiums are empty!!
