Jaco Engels, the Bulls/Blue Bulls prop, has signed a two-year contract with the Eastern Province Kings, starting next year.

Engels, who was born in Oranjemund, schooled in Potchefstroom and played centre as a schoolboy, turns 30 in December and would like to get more of a chance to start matches and simply to play more as at the Bulls in Super 14 and with the Blue Bulls in Currie Cup he is used off the bench, sometimes late in the match,
Engels’s agent, Johan van Greunen, has confirmed the signing, saying: “Jaco has signed to the end of October 2012. with an option to renew. He wants to start more matches and play more regularly. As a result the decision was an easy one.”
Hmmmm, not such good news… Jaco Engels is way underrated.
I always said, with his mobility and overall game he should have converted to hooker years ago. Imagine what a strong front row could have been assembled with him in the middle and 2 strong props either side.

I think this guy is a big loss to the Bulls considering there situation if Guthro gets injured..
