In recent weeks I said my bit about referees.  I came across this video made by an Australian no-less which I think makes for some fascinating viewing.

The Boks and how they play is one issue, the refereeing is a completely different issue.

No words necessary to explain this.

Agree Morne no words necesary but i will repeat this.

    You call this a contest?

One team although not red hot must play with one hand tied behind their backs and the other look like super heroes because of that. All that beautiful All Black game went sour because the contest was killed.

I don’t think the Bokke would have won, but the scoreline would have been a lot closer if the ref had been a lot stricter on the AB’s. And then BP’s could have been in play, and a 100% home leg record could have made the finish to the 3N a lot more exciting. As it is, its now over as a contest. Now is the a good time to rest top players and blood some youngsters, but that wont happen.

    @ bos_otter:

  • 6

But what really surprised me was the origin of this clip. Australian. But would they have been so charitable had it been Aus vs SA?

I recon we’ve bitched and moaned enough about referees and cheats now… time to fix what’s wrong on Springbok side and show the farkers what we’re made of.

Time for some intraspection, some fresh ideas, some innovation, some rejuvination!

Last thing I want is for R-T to become known as the bitchy blog and for it’s bitchy stance towards referees and other teams.

There won’t be another Article which bitches and moans about Tri-Nations referees or about certain teams or players cheating. I think this was about the 6th one on the topic, if not more….

    Let’s move on….

… Oh and “gaan mal” with the comments on this Article, seeing as this is the last opportunity on this topic…..

    😀 hehehehe

@ grootblousmile: GBS…relax man!! This is all part of a natural process…we are after all only human.

What are the stages of the loss process?
    Stage 1: Denial
    Stage 2: Bargaining
    Stage 3: Anger
    Stage 4: Despair
    Stage 5: Acceptance

I think it’s safe to say that a lot of us is still at stage 3-4…stage 5 soon to follow!! When this happens people will start analysing events and hopefully come out stronger.

Your reply in bold makes you sound like a dictator 🙂

ok, just to add a bit of fuel to a dying fire
    ..
as far as i remember the contents of the “get the japies” email (1999) was never revealed by sarugby, was it?
as far as i know only bits and pieces found there way into the media.
    ..
i’ve had a look around on the internet this morning, but
didnt find much on the subject other than an article written by dan retief for superrugby in 2002 under the heading “a question of bias”
in this article he says the following:

“There was some confirmation of (these) feelings of persecution in the infamous e-gate incident when mail between the REFEREES’ CHIEFS of Australia and New Zealand ended up in Sarfu’s offices. In it they referred to South Africans as “the Japies” – a term intended to be as insulting as us calling the Aussies a nation of convicts – and there were alarming references to not informing South Africa of decisions and the correspondence allegedly ended with the statement: “Let’s get the Japies.”
    ..
    now
does anyone have a full account of that email please? i cant remember it ever being revealed in full
    but
then i might have missed it (or even forgotten that i actually saw it)

    13@ Morné:
Sorry Morné, I do not follow…. nobody has contacted us….

What I’m saying is that there’s so much focus on one side of the coin (the bitching and moaning part), that the flipside (fixing what’s wrong within Bokke camp) has disappeared totally from focus.

My nature is one of pro-active reaction, not reactive bitching… I see the glass as half full and not as half empty and in someone else’s hands….

If SARU feels aggrieved, take a strong stance, show some brass cahoenies, quietly, outside of Media circles… and BLIKSEM the IRB and SANZAR and the REFEREES… but do it quietly….

Because by now we sound too much like that “Little Klikbekkie” in class who runs to teacher or mommy at every opportunity…

    @ grootblousmile:

    GBS,

This, and many similar stories are currently the topic in rugby. Peter de Villiers’ hearing is today, Rugby365 the biggest rugby news website in the world ran a similar story, showing exactly the same video above..

If it pisses you off, why read it?

If you are going to start censoring posts or articles, that is your perogative as this is your site.

Personally, I think it is over the top and dof.

Mediums such as this gives people a platform to debate issues in rugby, and that includes all issues. It also includes different angles on issues.

The above is an issue in its subject, it is also a different view on the issue as it has video evidence.

If you want to censor what your readers can and cannot debate taking the above mentioned post of mine into consideration or because it is a personal issue or irritation to you, then count me out mate.

    gbs @ 19
    sooooooooooooo
    if i understand you correctly
    you
DONT want us to remind you how you “ran to the teacher or mommy at every opportunity”? 😀

  • 22

  • 28

@ Morné:Morne, I think GBS is more upset with some of our responses to your article, not the article as such. You only linked a video that’s currently available on youtube…nothing much in your article suggest you blame or bitch over the refs/teams

  • 29

    @ Ashley:
