The International Rugby Board has confirmed a change to the match official panel for Saturday’s Tri-Nations match between New Zealand and Australia.

SuperSport

Cobus Wessels (South Africa) has been replaced by Keith Brown (New Zealand) as assistant referee for the top of the table clash in Christchurch.

Wessels, who will now perform the role of Television Match Official, has been stood down as assistant referee 2 following a routine review of match official performance in last weekend’s Tri-Nations match in Melbourne.

The appointment of a replacement assistant referee from the host union is owing to the logistical and preparation pressures of selecting a neutral official for Saturday’s match and will not be a precedent for future appointments.

The change has also been approved by Sanzar.

So they take our ref off but what about Alain Rolland? WHY are we still going to have him ref us here in SA against Oz? He was terrible when we played the Abs.

Remember Walsh got removed in the S14 by pressure from the Brumbies. So we should have insisted we don’t want Rolland to ref us again or any NH ref. As NONE of them reffed in the S14. We really needed SH refs to ref all of the Tri-Nation games.

@ Puma:If they are going to get any consistency in the world, they have to let NH refs blow our games down here…unfortunately.

@ 4man:2 – 4man, Though we played new rules this year in the S14 and none of the NH reffed there. Now there they are reffing us in the Tri-Nations. Should have been all SH refs for this Tri-Nations. All saffa refs for the NZ/Oz games though. Boks have all NH refs.

@ Puma:If you don’t have a fetcher in the side it does not matter what rules are blown you are going to loose the tackle ball situation and in most cases the game too
