Against all odds Uruguay has reached the last four, with Forlan looking ominous, can Tabarez take his team to the top? Only the Netherlands stand in their way.

Tuesday’s Semi-Final

Netherlands vs Uruguay

Read on how to win a case off beer

Rugby will overlap the Worlds greatest sport spectacle this weekend with the start of South Africa’s premier rugby competition the Currie Cup on Friday. On Saturday morning (SA time)the first Tri Nations Test will be played between New Zealand and South Africa in Auckland.

On Rugby-Talk.com we covered Rugby , Cricket and Soccer simultaneously. We also created pools on Superbru for our regular bloggers in all these Sport codes. The Soccer Superbru game comes to an end on Sunday. It has big points available this week, so anyone within 10 points of our leader EEE can still catch up. There is 9 win points available in the semi-finals, the 3rd place play-off and final. If your margins are picked right you can take a lot of points in this last week.

Competition this week –  the winner will win a case(24) of South African beer(not imported) by being the most successful predictor in the semi finals and Final. Anyone no mater where you stand in the Rugby-Talk SWC pool can take this prize.

Go ahead put in your Superbru picks the normal way, we will do the calculations. In case of a tie the 3rd place play-off picks will decide the winner. If still tied, you will have to share those beers, hopefully with your fellow winners.

When the SWC finally ends we can start the old provincial rivalry. There is nothing more exciting in South African rugby to beat your provincial opponents. Although the top Springboks will only join the Currie Cup in the finals stages we have enough quality players to keep this competition the best provincial competition in the World.

For all info about the Tri Nation and Currie Cup competition go to TOURNAMENTS and follow the drop-down boxes for more information.

The usual debate whether the Springboks must be allowed into the final stages will be hotly debated. But look at it this way, how can a Union like the Bulls be so successful if they don’t win competitions. If the Mercs , the 4×4,s and heavy artillery is available why not use them. The money generated by winning will pay those “slaves” who did the hard work this year. They give the big guns the opportunity to play for the silverware but the TEAM is always bigger than the individual player.

The much talked about TriNations match between the Springboks and the All Blacks being played at Soccer City in Soweto is not set in stone yet.

The match is still officially booked to be played at Ellis Park on the 21st of August 2010 but there has been much talk of the Golden Lions who are hosting the match moving the match to the bigger National Stadium (Soccer City).

The Lions have confirmed that they are considering moving the match but that no decision has yet been made.

Tait’s first over set the tone, when he sent down a 161.kph (100.1mph) delivery to Craig Kieswetter. It was the quickest on record by an Australian, beating Brett Lee’s 160.8kph effort in Napier in 2005, and marginally short of the all-time record holder Shoaib Akhtar, who hit 161.3kph during the 2003 World Cup.

    @ Blue Bird:
Nice too see you are still alive, thought you slit your wrists after the England SWC performance.

At least the Cricket looks better.

    Cheers

I think they will win but have different scores Super 🙂

@ superBul:5 – Super 😆 Have to wait until after the semi to see who gets through. So many top teams have lost when we have expected them to win.

I have a feeling Spain could hit top form against Germany. Spain could go through. Just hope Holland go through and not Uruguay. Uruguay don’t deserve to be there really.

If Germany and Holland do make the final and Germany win don’t think it will be 4/1 hehehe. That is wishful thinking. Will be tough against Holland. Remember Holland have not lost a game yet. Germany have against Serbia.

Wow!!!!!!! never knew I would get so excited or into the football like I have. Really have enjoyed this world cup in our country.

Good luck to Holland on Tuesday and Spain on Wednesday 😀

    @ Puma:
hey you are ruining a good friendship 😀

I like the energy and youthfulness of the German team. Hell and their strikers are giving the opponents goaly a decent workout.

@ superBul:9 – Super, Sorry boet. I like the Hollanders. 😀 Germans have won it a few times. They have enough world cups….hehehe It is Hollands turn now. So hope the Dutch can win it for the first time.

@ Blue Bird:4 – Before I go. Hello BB. Hope you had a wonderful holiday. Catch up when you back.

    @ Puma:
They must wish that Germany falls before the final. Hell their stats are fearsome. Their best striker have not even started up properly. Podolski is due, watch him next game.

“We tried to implement a change after the Euros,” said the coach. “We wanted to give younger players an opportunity. We were willing to lose a few games – that was a risk we were happy to take – and we have brought about this change. Now we have introduced all these young players and they are fearless.”

The only cloud on Germany’s horizon yesterday was the soft booking Muller collected in the first half that rules him out of Wednesday’s semi-final in Durban.

“I hope that my team-mates get everything right in the semi-final, then I can come back and score another goal in the final,” said the 20-year-old.

The test v NZ will move.

    It’s as good as finalised.

The last important stakeholder (the GLRU club’s) approved the change at a meeting on Thursday last week, so I can’t see it not happening.

The next big thing will be the Lions moving from coca-Cola Park to the National Stadium, but there is a lot of sentiment to overcome first.

Well I for one hope the Netherlands beat Uruguay tonight. NO way does Uruguay deserve to be in the semi let alone the final. They are cheats.

GO ORANJE….GO ORANJE…..GO THE ORANGE TEAM FROM HOLLAND.

  • 19

@ Puma:Morning Puma, I will be backing the Dutch too.
    How are you doing?

  • 20

Boerboel, Hope you have your oranje shirt on today. I have mine on and hoping our team makes it through to the final tonight.

Also hoping no yellow cards. If the team makes it through they will need all their players for the final. Also no injures please.

GO ORANJE. GO THE MEN IN ORANGE. All the best for the game tonight Holland.

@ Blue Bird:19 – Morning BB. Hope you had a wonderful holiday.

I am doing just fine. The weather is awesome and I am feeling great for the Dutch. Their supporters have been magnificent in this world cup. So too were the English and was really sorry to see them leave. Pity about England going out the tourney so early. They had about as many as the Dutch supporters here.

  • 22

I suppose I now also back the Germans and the Dutch…. after all my roots are German… near enough to the Dutch border.

  • 23

    Spain and Holland.

Hope the Germans are now overconfident and the arrogance of youth comes through and they implode big time.
