The Gauteng Lions Rugby Union is seriously reaching out to a new breed of possible supporters to change their fortunes around and entice a new brand of supporter to counter dwindling supporter numbers.

Well, here’s one of them, and he already looks non-plussed!

Tong on die wang of nie.

That my friends is the future when the Lions actually look for a decent game from the Likes of WP, Bulls, Sharks etc. That baby is thinking: When are the Lions going have decent opposition.

    Sseriously,

To all of you out there saying that the GLRU must do more in Soweto, do you honestly believe that the GLRU have not been constantly ploughing money and resources into the area?

Of all the development areas in and around Greater Johannesburg, Soweto benifits FAR MORE than the other areas. The area does not only benifit from the GLRU, but also hugely from local Government as well.

Which all brings me to the crux of the matter. Soweto Rugby Club continually fail to meet their league match commitments, often withdrawing ALL teams at the 11th hour.

You can take a horse to water, but you can’t force it to drink.

I wonder who’ll be smiling in Gauteng come Saturday evening.

Is the Blue Herd of Bulls ripe for an upset?

Can the Lions fill thier quota requirement and actually field a team with more than three (3) REAL RUGBY PLAYERS?

Will the massive crowd expected at the Coke Blik be wearing predominantly red?

And lastly, will the Lions play above themselves for 70 minutes only to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory in the final 10?

No matter what, I’m sure that Captain Henry James Morgan will be in plentiful supply, and should our mighty Pride of Lions fail in their endeavour to win the first home CC fixture of the year, we’ll put it down to the re-building experience, blame the ref’, explain that we have the best jersey of ALL the CC teams, and pour another drink.

Luckily Lions supporters don’t accept mediocricy easily!

Do you know for a fact that Soweto benefits as much as you say? If this is the case I am not aware of it.

what would you suggest GLRU do to get back to where they were a long time ago.
