Springbok coach Peter de Villiers says that he thinks that the Stormers will beat the Bulls when the two teams clash this weekend.

Bulls captain Victor Matfield says that the Bulls will rest some of their stars for Sunday’s pivotal top-of-the-table clash against the Stormers in Cape Town.

Springbok coach Peter de Villiers isn’t surprised the Bulls will rest their top players

“I would have done it because you need them more a week after that and the risk is so much higher because the Stormers will come out all guns blazing and for you, not being as fired up, maybe the injury risk is much higher,” he told ONEsport while in New Zealand.

He’s picking the Stormers to win – but which New Zealand or Australian teams does he think will make the semis?

“Well I don’t care… for New Zealanders it will be brilliant but I really don’t care, as long as we get through this injury free,” he says.

In related news, Peter de Villiers washed out his mouth regarding the state of New Zealand rugby…

Springboks coach Peter De Villiers says that New Zealand Rugby has been left behind and have not taken the opportunity to progress like other teams.

De Villiers is crrently touring New Zealand researching venues for the Tri Nations and the Rugby World cup and says that New Zealand lagging behind everyone else, and that this doesn’t bode well for the 2011 World Cup.

“What I learned from the New Zealand model, the rugby is still the same as it was four, five or six years back.”

“The other teams caught up with them and now everybody thinks New Zealand is bad.”

“They’re not bad… they never took the opportunity to move on to the next level.”

“It’s going to be tough for them to do that now for the World Cup.”

De Villiers has also made dire predictions for the Tri Nations teams heading into the World Cup.

“If we don’t manage our players correctly in the Southern hemisphere, all three of us, we can be in for a bumpy ride,” he told ONE Sport.

In 2011 the Super 14 will expand to a Super15 with more matches, then there will be the TriNations and then world cup which amounts to a lot of rugby for players and fans.

Speaking about the upcoming TriNations De Villiers denied that the Springboks are hot favourites to take out the Tri Nations this year.

“You don’t get things like that in rugby… You don’t have control over winning and losing. You can only control what you can control,” he says.

De Villiers took a less philosophical approach when asked what he thought of the New Zealand sides in contention.

“Well I don’t care… for New Zealanders it will be brilliant but I really don’t care, as long as we get through this injury free.”

Well that is no brainer 🙄 Every rugby supporter knows the Stormers will beat the Bulls this Saturday. Bulls are playing their 2ND STRING TEAM!!! Of course Stormers will win. Jeepers not much to think about.

Don’t count out the NZ sides yet. Put their best players from each of their S14 sides together for the ABs, they will be very hard to beat. Oz will be very tough this year too.

Just hope we come away injury free. That is tops right now.

Snor is travelling to look at the venues.. Impressive, maybe he is not as brain dead as we think and uses the crap he speaks as a smoke screen..

Well snorre, it doesn’t take a brain surgeon to deduct that the stormers S14 team will beat the Blue Bull vodacom cup team. Just one thought for the stormers though, the vodacom blue bulls have not lost 1 match this season! Pretty impressive i’d say!

Anyway snorre is an undercover province fan(or not so undercover) and it is his right to be, Jake White was too when he started and then he became a sharks fan, now he will become a western force fan, just as the wind blow I suppose.

It will be an intriguing Saturday none the less. Will the Stormers show some desperation once the pressure sets in? Or when their expected lead of 50 points at halftime is 5, even maybe a deficit? That is how they lost all their games this year and if the blue bulls under 23’s are still in the game by the 60yh minute I fear the stormers will be mentally slaughtered.

Just my opinion and halftime will probably be 36-12 but who knows…….

Dont worry about what he thinks about what Snor thinks about the result guys, everyone knows the Stormers should win comfortably but rather look into what he is saying about the World Cup,the man is planning already which is a very good thing..

This just means that the Bulls will snot klap the Stormers.

“De Villiers took a less philosophical approach when asked what he thought of the New Zealand sides in contention.

‘Well I don’t care… for New Zealanders it will be brilliant but I really don’t care, as long as we get through this injury free.'”

    Pasop vir die Vodacom spannetjie!

Ranking van SA spanne in 2010:

    Bulls
    Stormers
    Sharks
    Bulls “B team”
    Cheetahs
    Stormers “B team”
    Cheetahs “B team”
    Lions

Hahaha!!!!… maar ernstig nou, Stormers moet nie oorgerus daar instap nie. Een Naqulevuki blaps en ref fout of twee en Bulletjies druk twee driee en al die druk is op die Stormers.

7@ was tongue in the cheek.

Stormers should and must win for the greater good of SA rugby.

    Looking forward to it!

8 – Hokaai, If Stormers beat the full strength Bull side then yes that is the greater good for SA rugby, NOT a 2nd string side. It rather devalues this comp. BUT like I said on the Tahs thread, Bulls have earned the right and be rewarded to field a B side for this game. To rest and make sure no injuries for the semi. Though it gifts Stormers the game.

Now don’t get me wrong. I want to see a all saffa final but would have prefered it was won for not given.

7 – Hokaai, You are being arrogant there…..hehehehe. Bulls 2nd string side WOULD be beaten by the Cheetahs. Cheetahs beat the Blues and Bulls lost to them. Give Cheethas credit mate. They deserve it. Played most of their season without top players.

Okay I know your post 7 was tongue in check, just had to pull you up there a bit!!! .. hehehe

Does’nt really take a brain surgeon to figure that one out now does it 😕

However, I think this match might be closer than most people expect…
