Time to pick your best SA performers of the weekend. Great play by the 3 winning South African teams, Stormers, Cheetahs and Bulls will make this week a tough call. Add to that some great individual performances by players in the two other South African teams, the Lions and Sharks and one should expect a lot of changes to last week’s team.

Never saw the Lions or Cheetahs game so probably not fair for me to put picks in this week.

  • 2

    My picks are in

    15. Zane (Lambie & Aplon came close)
    14. Gerhard v/d Heever
    13. Mossie Fourie (no doubt about this one, Jaque was sublime)
    12. Juan de Jongh
    11. Mvovo (Few candidates here, I suppose Mvovo’s nice break clinched it for him)
    10. Morne Steyn (in wet conditions he was’nt perfect but neither was Peter Grant in dry conditions)
    9. Fourie du Preez (Ruan & Duvenage & Sarel Pretorius came close)
    8. Duane Vermeulen
    7. Francois Louw (this man’s getting better and better every game, strong contenders were all close… Deysel, Dewald Potgieter & Juan Smith)
    6. Schalla (he’s lucky though it is due to Stormers overall performance, Stegmann & Botes came close)
    5. Victor Matfield
    4. Danie Rossouw (Bakkies was very rusty and did not come close, worst Bulls forward on the field yesterday. Fondse came close but Danie made a huge impact on the Bulls taking control)
    3. Brock Harris (Werner Kruger came close)
    2. Gary Botha (in Gary’s MOTM performance it has to be him, Tiaan Liebenberg came close)
    1. Gurthro Steenkamp

  • 3

I’ve just copied the Bulls team 😆

  • 4

I read that Jongi Nokwe has a broken cheekbone. Frans Viljoen has now broken his arm.

  • 5

Where did you read that ?

  • 6

Sorry no new thread so will just post this here.

See that Alberts probably wont start for the Sharks still has a ankle injury also Deysel might not start, has a arm injury. Worst of all John Smit has gone for a neck scan too. So hoping all it well with our captain. Not for the Sharks game but for the Tri-nations.

Even if John’s neck is fine think he should be rested. We have nothing to lose now our season is over. Rather rest John. Think he has played 80min in just about everygame this S14. Looks about 10kg thinner too. Think players should be rotated to give their bodies rest in this very long S14 tourney.

If Alberts, Deysel and John are out for this game against the Stormers. Think Stormers by 15 this week with a bonus point.

“Think Stormers by 15 this week with a bonus point”
    ..
thanks puma. youre sooooooooooo kind!! 😀

  • 8

7 Ash…hahaha. Sharks have so many injuries now. Without Alberts, Deysel and probably Smit we wont be competitive like I was hoping. Stormers will be just too good.

If we have those players then maybe it could be a tight game, we lose them then Stormers by many. 🙁

More Ashley, geluk met jou span, baie goed gespeel.

  • 10

    bdb @ 9
fokken kak job, as jy my vra!!

  • 11

I am not going to write another article on them, it’s just a waste of my time.

I blamed Dick Muir for a great number of atrocities this season, and while I am still adamant that he is a major benefactor to how kak the Lions are, I feel the focus now has to shift to the players themselves. What a bunch of utterly disgraceful excuses for rugby players.

They have no pride, no commitment, no common sense, nothing. They are atrocious, far beyond the mere realms of only being kak.

Any moron can see, that when you are under pressure on your goal line, kick for territory. NOOO not these arse-clowns, they want to run, but they simply cannot take a ball through more than two phases without making a complete fluck-up of it.

For the first time this season, they actually started defending, but guess what? Now suddenly they can’t attack anymore! These guys have no talent, they are a waste of our time and of SARU’s resources.

Which daft sponsor would be happy with what they are getting? How is the Lions generating money? No-one comes to their games, no-one buys their merchandise, except a few stragglers who only go to the games to get pissed where their wives and mothers can’t find them, cause honestly, who would think of looking for someone at a Lions game?

The Lions are pox on South African rugby, and I am honestly sick of it. This bunch of moffies wouldn’t even stand a chance in the Vodacom Cup, pathetic.

    #9 bdb

So, given this “sagmaakprosesteorie” of yours (that particular Bulls sagmaak of the Blues in Auckland immediately springs to mind),I take it that you will thank the Stormers in writing here should the Bulls beat the Crusaders on the weekend, right?

I mean sagmaak is mos sagmaak….

  • 13

    fender @ 12

    #16 LOL Ash!!

  • 18

    😆 !!!! Ash jou ou moegoe…

  • 19

Cheetahs showed some backbone on Saturday, but their defense was in shambles at times. That being said, kudo’s to them getting it right in light of their run of injuries.

  • 20

    Ok:

    1 Gurthro
    2 Gary Botha
    3 Werner Kruger
    4 Oom Daan
    5 Vic Mat
    6 Deon Stegenoster
    7 Dewald Potgieter
    8 Pure Spies
    9 Fury Doepas
    10 Morne Steyn
    11 Frans Hougie
    12 Wynand olivier
    13 Mossie mos
    14 Shadow blitzer
    15 Pat La-a-a-a-a-mbie

  • 21

    @ 20

    ‘Skuus tog:

    7 Juan Smith

  • 22

    LANGNAAM #20
flok, amper donner ek van my stoel af!!
    jy’t
    sowaar
    hier
    en
    daar
    ñ nie-bloubul in jou span!!

    moet
vanoggend mos flokken SEER wees, man!!

(phew) gelukkig is daar darem eye-gene daarvoor

    o,

  • 24

Ash, ek skiem die Blou Oog Wandelaar het daai naam gescore oorlat asse ou rondsluip met net een oog oop issit mos nette matter of time voordat jy inne deur of so iets vasstap, of hoe? 😉

  • 25

    @ HUH!?

  • 27

    fender @ 24
    sooooooooooooo
    miskien sou
“blou slaapwandelaar” meer gepas gewees het?

  • 28

    blou slaapwandelaar @ 26
“Time to pick your best performers of the weekend”

sallit help as ek vertaal? 😀

  • 29

    @ Ashley

    2 Gary Botha
    3 BJ Botha
    4 Bakkies Botha
    5 Victor Matfield
    6 Deon Stegmann
    7 Juan Smith
    8 Pierre Spies
    9 Fourie du Preez
    10 Morne Steyn
    11 Brian Habana
    12 Jean de Villiers
    13 Jaque Fourie
    14 Gerhard vd Heever
    15 Francois Steyn

    16 John Smit
    17 Werner Kruger
    18 Danie Rossouw
    19 Dewald Potgieter
    20 Francois Hopugard
