Ryan Kankowski has a broken thumb and will be out for the rest of the Super14

The sharks coach John Plumtree has confirmed that Ryan Kankowski is the miss out on the rest of the Super14 with a broken thumb.

Fortunately for the Sharks this is the only bad news after their victory over the Queensland Reds, The other niggles seem not to be as serious as first thought and the rest for the likes of John Smit (elbow)  and Alistair Hargreaves this coming weekend with the Sharks not in action will be more then welcome and give them time to recover.

On a positive note the Sharks duo is expected to be fit for the clash against the Lions and will also welcome back Johann Muller (hand) and Keegan Daniel ( concussion).

Jean Deysel replaced Kankowski and provided a hard edge to the Sharks pack, with Willem Alberts moving to No 8 and Jacques Botes completing the impressive loose trio. Keegan Daniel is also expected to return from concussion to sit on the bench against the Lions next Saturday.

Kankowski’s ailment will also be setback for the Sharks no 8 from a national perspective. Kankowski had been in impressive form over the opening rounds, and would have provided decent back-up for Pierre Spies.

This is a big blow for Kankowski as he is also set to miss the June internationals and the away leg of the Tri-Nations, but provided he returns to form in the early stages of the Currie Cup, he could feature in the Springboks’ home-leg of the southern hemisphere competition.

27 – Just hope that Smitty is back.

The Tank looked quite full on Saturday. Really good to see the supporters coming out to support the Sharks.

This week. Bulls should get the 5 points. See Chiefs have plenty injuries. So for me see a Bulls win and probably with the bonus. Stormers have huge game against the Blues who are starting to play some good rugby. Hope the Lions can get their first win this week too. Though against the Reds it might be tough.

Feel for the Cheetahs, lost too many players to injury. They were really competitive until losing those 4 players. Hope that Juan can go over and play this weekend. Going to be tough against the Brumbies.

24 – Super, If it is green in the bush for the Winter Months that would mean not good viewing? Not good for the WC soccer visitors that will now doubt be visiting the game parks.

34 – Blue Bird, Tell Rob thanks and I wish the Stormers well against the Blues. Tell him I say Stormers must go get em…hehe.

This Bulls vs Chiefs game is difficult to call. Chiefs would like to revenge that heavy defeat in the final. The Bulls know they can demolish them, now the home-ground has changed. Really difficult to decide whats going to happen.

Puma, when the bus took us out of Joberg airport I was amazed just how brown and arid the whole landscape was…..could not imagine how anything could exist in such an environment human or otherwise!

Good on them Puma let them search a bit, makes for good pictures and great memories. I have been on many game drives when the veld was bare, not good viewing. If they get a proper guide they will see them, our eyes are sharp my mate, sharp.

42 – BB, You came in our very dry winter months. It goes all brown up here. So this rain we getting is really very good. Umhlanga though that time of year is fine still very green down there being sub-tropical.

43 – Super, That is the exciting part of being in the bush, to search to see the wild life. Might go this year myself. Have not been to the Kruger for about 6 years. But smaller game parks. Nothing though like the Kruger.
