Reports are emerging this morning that there will be significant changes to the Bok coaching staff.

Apparently Bok coach, Peter De Villiers, has had enough of his support staff who do not see eye to eye with his coaching idea’s and will replace them with others who do.  De Villiers’s tenure as coach has been dogged with reports that he is not effective as a coach and relies  on the assistans and senior players to actually coach the team, while he performs more of a managers role.

It seems as if forwards coach Gary Gold will be first to be fired.

Dick Muir seems to share De Villiers’s vision of how the game should be played, and will remain as the backline coach.

I read somewhere that he is impressed by Proudfoot,s achievements with Brok Harris and is surprised by the improvement at the Stormers since Proudfoot took over from Gary Gold. Gold might be the first to go.

That will be a good move by de Villiers. We need an astute forwards coach.

I cant find the article right now but i think that Dick might be in trouble if his team stays winless.

We could do with a good backline coach too.

Tricky Dicky should be the fist to go, the man is a walking liability! He’s always been though…. at the Sharks he wanted to make a utility player out of every backline player, at the Bokke, same thing but more importantly I feel he has a large hand in Snorrie’s slelection of such a fiasco tour group of players for 2009 EOY Tour.

Gary Glitter has also really not been that good to be honest and it is good to hear that the coaches who have had success, like Proudfoot, is mentioned as possible candidates to replace Glitter.

Whilst Snorrie replaces staff, how’s about appointing a proper Bokke Media Manager to handle interviews and organise Madia contact properly.

My votes go to SlapChips and Proudfoot, with de Villiers overseeing things.

    Good news about Mr Muir.

Hopefully he’ll have to spend every waking moment of the next 20 years with the Bokke, then the Lions can replace him with a competent coach. Perhaps the U 7 coach from Laerskool TweeBokkeMetEenSkootDoodgeskietFontein. You know, someone with real life experience.

10@ Onerb – Why a foreign backline coach? Why not Slapchips (Bulls) or Flecky (Stormers), both former Bokke and both seem to be doing well at their Super 14 Franchises.

Is there an obsession with “Foreign must be better”, because it is’nt, just like the grass is not necessarily greener on the otherside of the fence.

As far as Gert Smal is concerned, I was not impressed with him in Jake’s era, but he certainly seems to have grown on his stint overseas…. maybe we need some younger blood though…. like Proudfoot.

PS! It will also weaken WP & Stormers for the future so the Bulls can walk all over them…… hehehehehe

Dick Muir en Snorbaard seeing eye to eye? Oh fcuk!

I might apply, wonder where we can send our CV’s?

I think it is difficult for our local coaches to stay impartial when selecting backlines and a fresh look from the outside might provide a better platform. Just look at Dick playing players all over the show, I mean playing Jacobs @ 12 is just ridiculous.

Get Os du Randt to coach the forwards 🙂
