Cape Town – Hurricanes centre Ma’a Nonu will appear before a SANZAR judicial officer in Cape Town on Monday after being cited for a dangerous tackle following Saturday’s Super 14 match against the Stormers in Cape Town.

Nonu was cited under Law 10.4 (e) – tackling a player above the line of the shoulders – for a tackle on Stormers flyhalf Peter Grant in the 71st minute of the match. The Stormers won the match 37-13.

Nonu’s hearing will take at the offices of the Western Province Rugby Union at 15h00 on Monday.

    Ban him, 2 weeks.

  • 2

A Nonu ban will help the Bulls have an “easier” game before the tough tour.

Lets hope the Canes continue the poor form they have shown agains the Cheetahs and the Stormers.

Please do not underestimate them Bulls!

Nonu is so out of form it would help the Bulls if he played.

    morning everyone except loosehead
    here we go
    ….
    stooooooooooooooooooooooooooormers!!!

    4 – Morning Ash.

Well done to your Stormers. They playing brilliant.

Saffa teams so far number one and two on the log. Fantastic.

  • 6

Well, I do not wish for any player to be banned…. the Bulls will just have to prove to us again that they belong up there in the No 1 spot.

A Team can very quickly tumble a few places over the span of 1 weekend!

6 – GBS, Remember Sharks topped the log last year I think for 7 weeks and our wheels came off at the end.

Somehow just don’t see that happen with the Bulls. Though they will have to tighten their defence up. For now I think they are scoring more tries and beating the otherside by so much, they may not be too concerned about the leak tries against those team. Against Canes, Reds, and the Chiefs Bulls will have to work on their defence.

They are a very, very good side and will be working on that for sure.

All that will happen to Nonu at the disciplinary hearing today is he will receive some or other accolade.

  • 9

what is the longest super 14 run of victories?

  • 10

9@ Bill – I would not have the foggiest idea…. but if I had to hazard a guess by whom it was set, it would have to be the Saders….

  • 11

    Bill & GBS

According to Wikipedia the Saders won 15 in a row between 2002/3.

  • 12

11@ Kitaartjie – Mmmm, so my suspicion was right then…. let’s see if the Bulls can topple that one this season….. they’re already 10 in a row…. it will be farking difficult… they now have only one home game, Canes (11 – difficult), then they tour…. Force (12 – easy), Blues (13 – OK’ish), Chiefs (14 – difficult), Reds (15 – OK’ish, I hope)…. then back at Loftus.. Lions (16 – easy).

But that would mean that they would have to win all tour games….. eishhhhhhhhh!

  • 13

    GBS,

Ja, unbeaten on an away tour; that in itself will be some kind of record, I reckon…

  • 14

13@ Kitaar – It would be a SA 1st, to be unbeaten on tour… let’s see… but I do not expect the Bulls to go through a season of Super 14 unbeaten…. the Competition is just so strong.

  • 15

    GBS,

Mmmm, from “kitaartjie” to “kitaar”: some kinda promotion then? 😉

  • 16

    GBS @ 12

Come now, you know full well that the Welpies will have their performance of the decade to beat the Bulls.

Gadget man to score a hat trick!

14 – Bulls overseas games. Force, Blues, Chiefs and Reds.

They should do well there. Not sure if they will win all their games but they have the team to do it.

Blues, Chiefs and Reds on home turf are a tough customer but Bulls team are looking good.

Still to face Stormers at Newlands. That is going to be a cracker or just a very tight game. Will have to see.

Remember the game against the Sharks last year for Bulls to get a home semi? That was a superb game. Won by one point. Now hope we see a cracker like that against the Stormers in Newlands. Saffa games are for me the best to watch. We just rise to another level when we play each other.

  • 18

15@ Kitaar – No, some lazy vingers… hehehe

16@ Scrumdown – Firstly, commisserations with your Lions… and the Lions must watchit… the Bulls are exactly the team to exploit their weak defence, you know that Heyneke and Ludeke have points to prove against the Lions Union…

  • 19

They must be busy with Nonu’s citing tribunal right now….

  • 20

Why has Valatine not been cited for that blatent slap in the face of the Sharks player ??????????

  • 21

Before i go, Think the Bulls have some serious competition in the Stormers. Cant wait to watch that game.

  • 22

20 – Treehugs, Not sure. Remember Kockott last year got cited for his slap.

  • 23

20@ Boomninny – Probably because it was such a sissie-slap by the littest oke on the biggest oke, it was actually a laugh a minute.

It was more like, “Hey, leave me alone, you big brute… or I’ll slap you with my handbag and smear you with my lipstick!”

Citings should be for the more serious offences, we do not want rugby to develop into a sissie-sport where Hollywood-Acting is rewarded, a-la-poofball-style.

  • 24

GBS 😆 i get what you are saying, but it was so blatent and not a love tap but a real open hand hard slap. If i was the guy that had done it and then seen it on the replay i would bave been ashamed. Was nothing manly about the slap.

For the Shark not to have retailiated was huge self control i think.

Been told you want to humiliate a guy you flattly him, not a punch.
