The Team of the Stormers to play the Western Force in the 1st match of the Tri-Series, the warm-up matches for the Stormers has been announced.
Allister Coetzee, head coach of the Vodacom Stormers, today announced his team to play the Western Force at Newlands on Saturday 23 January. The game is the first match in the Neo Africa Tri-Series. Kick-off is at 17h00. A Vodacom WP Invitation XV will take on FNB Maties in a curtain raiser match at 14h45, with gates opening at 14h30.
Tickets are R50 Standing and reserved seats on the Danie Craven Stand and R10 for the Scholars Enclosure and are on sale at Computicket, Shoprite/Checkers outlets nationwide and at the Newlands Box Offices as from Tuesday 19 January 09:00-16:00. Nice team , hoping to see Fabian Juries and Frikie Welsch amoungst the reserves come kick off time and off course our Cappie ! Hopefully With Habana , Aplon and Juries we have enough Wingers to leave Nakakakaaak out of the equation. Also when Janjies return Joe can move to wing but having said that I do hope they give Joe (who was never my fav player) a proper extended Super 14 run ! He deserves that at least , also hope to see more of De Joghn and less of Morgan !!

KingPaul , Agree Tiaan was my first choice as Cappie as well , as for De Kock , its only for now and he wont be first choice , he is a good quality back up.
Now re Luke , true last years news but he was much more to WP/Stormers rugby than people realise. U just had to watch the players body language and how they spoke about him to realise that he wa sin fact highly regarded by them.
This is not good for WP.
It is always advisable to have your captain come from the forward pack.
Wingers never make good captains.

Maar ja, ek lees nie baie in die span in nie. Allister het klaar gese dat ouens soos Des Fountain, De Waal, Januarie en Jantjies basies by die finale Stormers groep gaan in stap. In elk geval, self met die spelers wat beskikbaar is sou ek JJ Engelbrecht in plaas van Aplon gespeel het, in Muller in die plek van De Kock Steenkamp. Maar dis ok, laat hulle eksperimenteer, dalk vind die manne ‘n diamant iewers.

Blues feel aggrieved about Carlos Spencer.
The Blues were clearly interested, as they were going through a frustrating process of finding a No 10 for the upcoming season, but never got a say in the matter as the New Zealand Rugby Union handled negotiations directly.
So it was the national body who spoke to the 34-year-old, 35-test, All Black’s representatives, and they quickly decided they were not interested in paying the sort of money that Lam revealed to be on a par with what senior All Blacks were getting.
Spencer subsequently signed a two-year deal with the Lions in South Africa that will see him play pivot for them in the Super 14 and also take on a mentoring/coaching role with the organisation.
“We are different from the rest of the world at professional level, even the NRL or South Africa or Australia,” said Lam. “We don’t contract the players. It’s New Zealand. So a player like Carlos, who wants to play Super 14 rugby, needs to go through New Zealand, and rightly so.
“We don’t have the same pool of money as other countries, so they’ve got to make wise choices.
“The sort of money he’s getting sounds similar to what McCaw and Carter are getting,” added Lam. “Can New Zealand afford that? They make the decision, and we don’t even come into the picture.”
