  7 assistants is what it takes to win championships, you have to surround yourself with top people.

  1)Kicking coach
  2)Backline coach
  3)Defense coach
  4)Forwards coach
  5)Fitness specialist
  6)Technical advisor

  any ideas on the 7th?

  Interesting bit about Heyneke Meyer’s assistants…. 7 of them…

  Let’s see, Forwards Coach, Backline Coach, Defensive coach, Physio, Doctor, Head Doctor, Team Manager….

  Is that excessive?

  Or am I missing the point and were these assistants not of the categories I mentioned above?

  2@Ashley – I think you refer to the scrum on the 63rd minute? I studied this scrum and the Ref’s blow was for walking about. However, he only blowed his whistle when the scrum was almost through 90 deg. I don’t agree with his interpretation.

  For some or other reason the Ref concentrated so much on Wickus Blaauw that he missed the same mistakes by Guthro. Guthro often put his hand on the deck for support.

  But, be that as it may, I think Mark Lawrence had a great game, very few errors and if it was errors it was at best 50/50 calls. He managed the game well and we all know that a game like this between WP/Bulls can easily explode.

  Kudos to Mark Lawrence.

  Something else on the Burger tackle on FdP. (which happened in the 65th minute).

  When FdP got up, rather bewildered, Morne Steyn had a good laugh, then Victor Matfield gave FdP an encouraging slap on the cheek, FdP grin-smiled and the game goes on. Nobody pointing fingers or wanting to moer Burger. Great stuff, acknowledging a great tackle and carry on like a warrior. FdP’s high shares in my book is higher after that!

  Agreed, dammmm good tackle, and good sportsmanship. That was a clean hard tackle, and that was the spirit in which it was received and handled. Well done to both parties NOT to make something out of nothing..
