He is as fast as any of the other members of the pack, Le Roux excepted, and in the loose and at the line-out he has to be very closely watched. Went up from the third to the first Stellenbosch team in 1901, also playing for Western Province in that season. He was not quite so good in 1904, but since that date has shown irresistible form, receiving the highest rugby honours possible in his country.

I don’t know about the answers to all your questions (as a Johnny Foreigner) but how about best matches for this year’s 3N or the mid-year tours? I vote for the British Lions series. They had tension, excitement & a pretty high level of play. The only thing wrong was the final result, series should have been tied IMO. 🙂

Probably the best match I have watched on reflection was Wales v Ireland this year when the Irish won the 6 Nations, amazing I was actually there too!

@carol – Not good actually, I hit my head on a cable tray in our underground parking lot while showing someone around yesterday, stepped up and straight into it…dizzy and woozy, with hindsight obviously concussed. Got home and got into bed and then had to get up and hurl…after that a shocker of a headache…battled to make it thru today. Took the dogs for a stroll when I got back home, but am ready for an early night again…but I’ll be fine by romorrowq I’m sure.
How are you, all the reaping must be done? I’ve got the tickets for the baa baas, it looks like a good lineup, so looking forward to that one now.
@carol – 17 Yeah, I do have one from early school days. When we first started playing rugby. The teacher, who was the ref too, carried a cane with him around the field. At one point a big pile of players formed, a friend of mine stood staring at the pile & exclaimed “God, I’m not going there!” At which point the ref stepped up & whacked him across the bum with his cane and said “grrr, get in there Adams”. Without hesitation Johnny Adams promptly jumped into the pile. I viewed all this safely positioned behind the ref & nearly peed in my shorts from laughing. Never forgot that incident. 🙂
