You would, you thought he wasn’t harsh on the Blues either.
I said earlier the week, it’s a pity I picked the Reds before I saw they appointed Berry as ref for the Lions again.

You know me boet… Celebrate a win and congratulate the opposition if we lose. Have never blamed the ref and never will – I leave that to the experts… LOL – You still in Sydney?

was here a while back, got sick of it after the Eden park test and all the ref is a cheat calls, surely one should allow that fine argument of our game to be voiced by all parties? 😀

What former Springbok coach NICK MALLETT had to say on SuperSport about Saturday’s matches at Ellis Park and Loftus Versfeld.

    ELLIS PARK

‘[Referee] Stuart Berry spent his entire second half looking only at the Reds. I have to agree with Naas [Botha], who has just said that the Lions haven’t always got the referee decisions in the past but they got it all in one game today. The Reds have every reason to feel aggrieved.

‘My feeling was that Berry was very flustered in the end and that he was only looking at the Reds errors. He penalised the Reds with four minutes to go at scrum, which was never a penalty. He then allowed a skew lineout throw with two minutes to go and gave a try when the grounding was inconclusive.

    ‘It was a shocking performance.’

Stuart berry, what an incompetent performance!

I saw two scrums go down by the lions prop foot slipping he penalised reds. It was not fault of the lions prop but he just penalised the reds.

I am gobsmacked by his performance! The powers that be need to cut him loose!

Home town reffing is alive and well.

Is it bias or cheating take your pick!

  • 373

@ Wallabie: have you ever heard of Stu Dickenson?

Two wrongs does not make one right

Sad state of refereeing. The Laws must be fixed/made easier/less interpretations allowed.

I hoped that TV would bring more clear and correct decisions in rugby. The questions asked by on fields refs is absurd. Must find a better way to look at replays.
Maybe 2 TMO,s who can rewind to a incident, but that could add up to 30 minutes to the game.
Best might be a captains/team referral per half.
If you refer stupid things its your problem. Teams can punish within themselves the wrong referral calls, eg. take half the players match fee if he wasted a referral.

  • 376

    @ superBul:
the reds would then basically have had to refer basically every scrum in the match.

Line scrum illegal its a reset scrum. Reds to something or just look at the ref wrong and its a penalty

    @ Loosehead:

Then the problem is obvious to solve…any ref with the name STUART is banned forthwith from officiating any rugby game!!!
